Oscar winners that deserved it

Umm... No. Hated MDB for beating The Aviator for the Oscar that year. And then they give to Scorsese for The Departed, which was just rubbing salt in the wound. Gits.

Umm... Oh. Yeah, obviously it didn't deserve its Oscars because honeykid hated it. honeykid always has valid reasons for hating movies.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
I say Whip it! Whip it good!

Actually, you're wrong, I don't always have valid reasons for hating movies. On this occassion, however, I do. In The Aviator, the direction's better, the cinematography's better, the writing's better, the acting I'd probably give to MDB as, with the exception of Leonardo DiCaprio, I can't really remember a role for an actor or actress to get their teeth into. Though, that said, I don't remember much beyond Swanks performance and Eastwood and Freeman being 'grizzled' so maybe The Aviator is better there, too. It's been a while since I saw both of them, but at the time, yeah, I thought that The Aviator and Scorsese were robbed by MDB.

On a personal level, I really didn't like or 'get' the second half of MDB at all. It was all going along ok, I was with the film and, while I didnt' think it was anything special, I liked it and then, snap, and after that I couldn't give a flying **** about anything that happened. Ruined a decent film, IMO. I thought that The Aviator was a much more interesting story and was told in a more interesting way.

I like how your reasons are all in the form of "The _____ in The Aviator is better". Isn't "better" the subject of debate here?

Not that I'm really arguing. I like the subject matter of The Aviator more. It also seemed more "necessary" than just another crime syndicate film, as good as it was.

That was Denzel's second Oscar. He won his first in 1990 for Glory.
As a supporting actor in which he did a good job but there is more credability in winning best leading actor than a supporting one.

Having watched Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire (God I hated the full use of the title at all the award ceremonies ).

Mo'Nique's best supporting oscar was thoroughly deserved in my opinion.

I thought Tom Cruise deserved the award over Dustin Hoffman. His character development is what makes that film and gives it heart.
If I'm going to be honest, I think both were deserving.

Yeah i agree with you. Oscar awards are so unpredictable. Recently we have seen a movie called Slum Dog Millionaire has won the oscar award. Nobody could believe that the movie has done it.
