What was the last DVD you bought and why?

I've just ordered a video because the dvd is too expensive.

I'm a huge fan of Michele Soavi's Stage Fright, and especially Dellamorte Dellamore, and have had to resort to vhs for The Sect aka The Devil's Daughter. I also want to pick up The Church aka Demons 3 when I can afford it.

I've heard great things about The Sect, and can't wait for it to arrive.

I also picked up Demon Spies which is from the people behind the Lone Wolf and Cub series; gory 70's chanbara fun with added nudity.

Double post alert. DVD collecting is a sickness you know.

Anyway I spotted a couple of gialli in a second hand music/dvd shop, and decided to part exchange some more cd's. This is what I got in return...

I also exchanged my Frightmare dvd as I've ordered this instead...

Nice buys 'Used'!

Picked up;

"Pathology"
"Fist of the Unicorn" - 2 disc.
"Head Cheerleader, Dead Cheerleader"
"Fear 2: Halloween Night"
"Blood Sabbath"

"It's Garry Shandling's Show"
THE COMPLETE SERIES

"Colin" - Ultra, ultra low budget Brit Zombie flick.

"Seinfeld" - Seasons 4 & 5 (This got superb after the sometimes weak 1 & 2. Never bothered with season 3)

"Iron Angels" - Upgrade from old UK VHS.
YAY!! One of my first love affairs with Hong Kong Nu-Wave action cinema. Gals 'n' guns and a great cast with the scrummy Moon Lee and 'The Osh' doing their kick ass business. Classic stuff from 1987 when things really took off, so nice to finally have it on DVD.

"Beach of the War Gods" - Another great DVD release in the R3 'Legendary films' series.
Wang Yu's patriotic (hey someone has to be) period action film is a mini-classic for a reason. Masses of extras do battle as China and Japan slug it out.
It's Kung Fu vs Bushido baby!

According to other forums I've read, it's a good edition, just missing a few frames at the end.
Yeah, it's the one i have. It's an okay package.

People were hoping the new UK release was the uncut print, as that was the print we used to have over here on VHS and TV.
Sadly, like with "Candyman", it was a port over of this cut American 'R' print.

What's missing are 2 extra shots of the finale event from 2 different angles.

Yeah a couple of bullet hits.

I have our R rated version of Candyman too, as well as the R rated Videodrome, and Dressed to Kill editions. It's a bummer for sure, but seeing as the R1 discs (at least for EGIB, Videodrome and DTK) are twenty quid then I'm prepared to make do for now.

I am looking forward to Eureka's new uncut release of the Lone Wolf and Cub series though. I have the old 'Farts'magic boxset with the cuts.

Yeah..dreadful releases.

I picked up a great Thai box-set off ebay a couple of years ago of "Baby Cart". Pretty cheap (and legit).

Picked up Fulci's "Aenigma" cheap off a market. God help me!

Aenigma is one of Fulci's worst second only to Manhattan Baby (I have the Euro Shock release). The snails scene is about the only thing interesting about it - even if it's similar to the infamous spider scene in The Beyond.

The only film of Fulci's I want on dvd now is The New Gladiators which I really like - Kill bike!!!. Shame it's full frame and on the Troma label though. That probably means having to endure Kaufman's mugging self promotion before the film starts.

[EDIT] The Artsmagic release of Lone Wolf and Cub isn't as bad as the Zatoichi films they put out. The transfers are rather good, it's just the cuts that bother me.

Z THE CRITERION COLLECTION
Sweet cover. Great film.
