The $800 Criterion Box Set

It's a curated collection of popular titles picked from Criterion Closet picks. And....frankly 40 titles for an average of 20 bucks a title is crazy. I already own 1/4th of these titles and I know I don't like several of these picks.

Does anyone look at this and think eh...I'll pick this up. I've bought expensive box sets before.

You can get it for $560 now most places.

I own nine of the films in the list on criterion, and a lot of those in the box set I don't want in my collection.

So big pass from me.

Trying Real Hard To Be The Shepherd
Yeah, I think most people who would want something like this own a bunch already. Plus, it’s so big that it seems like there will inevitably be a bunch you don’t want. Be interested if we get some stats on it after about a year because it doesn’t seem like a great idea to me.

I have some box sets which I love (the Sopranos, etc.), but even I wouldn’t spend $800 on a box set.

That is a pretty solid collection they put together, with the ones I haven't seen like something I would check out. It does seem a little pricey but lots of solid choices. I remember their Kurosawa box set that I wanted to acquire but it was also a little too expensive for me.
