Richard Simmons -- the legendary fitness guru -- has died at 76 ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... police and fire responded to a call from his housekeeper just before 10 AM Saturday and pronounced him dead at the scene. We're told no foul play is suspected at this time, and cops are looking into it as a natural death.

Shockingly, RS posted multiple times on Facebook recently ... including thanking fans for all the birthday wishes he received.

Simmons was born in New Orleans, Lousiana way back in 1948 ... later attending Florida State University where he got a Bachelor's degree in art before he moved to Los Angeles in the '70s.

The trick is not minding
My HS in Pennsylvania used to make us workout to his Sweating to the Oldies videos during gym period. For, like, a month I think? It wasn’t fun.

Very sad. 76 seems young for a fitness guru.

Dr. Ruth Westheimer (the sex guru) died yesterday (July 12, 2024) at the age of 96.
Being fit is more of a assurance of a good quality of life for as long as you live, but not necessarily a long life.

I always cracked up at Richard Simmons when he appeared on the David Letterman show. Letterman was always raggin on him but I got the feeling that Simmons never really took offense. Godspeed, Richard.

I still remember the first time I saw him on General Hospital. Definitely a unique screen persona who seemed to take a lot of guff from a lot of people throughout his career with a great deal of graciousness. RIP

Trouble with a capitial 'T'

I remember him when he was a guest on Letterman always a fun guest and I'm sure him and Letterman worked out the jokes beforehand and it was all in good fun.

Whaaat? Why do I find out about this only today? RIP such an icon
