Those are teenagers. My assumption was a kid is anyone below the age of 10 or so.

i think that when an adult gets murdered or shot or something, they shouuld've been smart enough to at least try and get away. But movie victims are so very deeply stupid that it's ok they get killed. But a child, theoretically, would not be able to escape a situation like that so its more tragic.

My assumption is a child is under the age of thirteen.

The kids in Battle Royale were suppose to be ninth graders.

Unless the Japanese school system is drastically different from the American system, age wise not education wise, I assume they are sixteen and under.

Putting nit picking out of the way, Battle Royale was a powerful films nonetheless and it's simply because they are children/adolescents. The entire effect of the film is gambled on how the audience will react and it was probably always a safe bet. A few years doesn't take anything away from the fact that the victims are all relatively very young. They haven't sampled much more of life, even if slightly more than kids 10 years old and under. One thing that always got me was why people felt sympathy for elderly people who die in films, surely they have lived as much as they are going to? Somebody mentioned it already, but I always thought the childs death in Pet Semetary was cleverly written. Typical Stephen King i guess.

Least I think thats the name of the movie. Oh wells. It makes it look really bad when you see the killer get to the kids...like as if he's accomplished his goal or something, whether or not if that was it at all.

Nope, I've got Identity and it turns out that the kid is the killer (in the lunatics mind at least), and there's only one kid in the film. You may be thinking of Hitcher.

Sadly, I think we overlook a lot of the adults killed off in movies because we subconsciously find something wrong with them� Kids are different� not only are they innocent, they represent a time in our lives when we were too�

I actually agree with you... I think it's because domesticated animals, particularly dogs, are the most innocent creatures, even more so than kids, in my opinion. I'm not saying I value my dog's life more than a kid's life, I just react differently.

i agree... meaning, i feel the same. i can't help, children are much more annoying AND much less intelligent during the first 2 years or so than any pet animal, not to mention wild ones capable of surviving all adversities.
oh my gosh! how politically incorrect! well, this is how i feel, and am talking precisely about *feelings*.

Battle Royale 2 avenges those children though! and is so anti-american imperialism and so politically incorrect that it deserves all my respect!

i have some critics too and things i would have done completely differently too, but it's ALL a MATTER of TASTE. (some have a tendency to forget and believe in a non-existing objectivity (unfortunately brought to Europe and then the USA with Xtianity first - which would bring us far, too far from this thread
