You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) - I watched this movie during a commentary here on the forum. It's one of my favorite movies, so the commentary was a lot of fun.

This is a fantastic movie that has a great blend of animation and live action that is done so seamlessly that it's easy to forget that you're watching a movie. Bob Hoskins is great as Eddie Valient, and the voice actors are terrific. This movie is even better than I remembered it.

Seconds (1966) - I was pretty sure that this movie wasn't my type of movie, but I watched it for the upcoming 1960's Movies list because it was recommended in the recent Watch List thread.

This movie is a thriller that's slow-paced and kind of creepy. Even the opening credits and the music are creepy, but it works well for the feel of this movie. It's an interesting concept, but it's very disturbing, especially the ending.

Rock Hudson was great in this movie, but I prefer him in rom-coms.

The Honeymoon Killers (1969) - This is another movie that I was pretty sure that it wasn't my type of movie, but I watched it for the upcoming 1960's Movies list.

This movie was kind of slow, and sometimes a bit boring. It's also a bit disturbing and graphic at times. The Honeymoon Killers were supposed to love each other, but they were both cold towards each other, and there was no chemistry between them at all. It made it hard to really care about what happened to them. I don't know how accurate the movie is, but it made their victims look like very stupid people.

And on a personal note, the movie gets a minus for the way he complained about my childhood hometown of Valley Stream, N.Y.

The Boston Strangler (1968) - I watched this movie for the upcoming 1960's Movies list. It's another movie that's probably not my type of movie, but it was recommended by a few people, and I like Tony Curtis, so I decided to give it a chance.

I know that this was supposed to be based on fact, but I don't know much about the real-life Boston Strangler, so while this was an interesting movie, it feels more like a 1970's cop TV show than an actual movie.

Tony Curtis proved that he's a great actor in this movie, but I prefer him in lighter roles.

A Night to Remember (1958)

This is a realistic version of the Titanic tragedy. It's heartbreaking to watch, but it's a great movie that really makes you feel what those people went through that terrible night. Everyone who thinks that the 1997 movie Titanic is the best version should watch this movie.

From Here to Eternity (1953)

I'm not a fan of war movies, but this is a different kind of war movie because it's more about the people than the war. This is a very good movie, but for me, it didn't quite live up to the hype. It kind of feels like a wartime soap opera.

The entire cast is excellent, including a standout performance by Montgomery Clift.

The Cincinnati Kid (1965) - I watched this movie for the upcoming 1960's Movie list, even though I know very little about poker, so I didn't have high expectations for this movie.

The movie is pretty good, but the first half of the movie is too slow. It took too long to get to the big game, and I started to get a little bit bored. However the second half of the movie is very good.

The entire cast is terrific, but I thought the romance part with Steve McQueen and Tuesday Weld was irrelevant to the story and could have been completely cut out without hurting the movie at all.

I also watched Seconds for the 60's list, and I loved it. I thought it was a sure thing for my list but it hasn't really stayed with me so I don't know.

Silent Fall (1994)

Based on the synopsis on IMDB, I thought this might be a good mystery, but while the parts about the autistic boy are interesting, the mystery part of the movie is pretty bad.

I watched this movie mainly because it was a Richard Dreyfuss movie that I hadn't seen, but unfortunately it's not one of his better movies. And John Lithgow's role is so small that he is completely wasted in the movie.

Blackboard Jungle (1955)

This is a very good movie about troubled youth in schools. The movie feels a little bit dated, but it's a great tension-filled movie with a powerful message.

Glenn Ford gives a great performance as a new teacher in a tough school with delinquent students. Sidney Poitier and Vic Morrow both give excellent performances as students.

Brigadoon (1954)

This movie is a charming musical fantasy starring Gene Kelly, Cyd Charisse and Van Johnson. It's a wonderful romance about the power of love.

This is one of my all-time favorite musicals, but the movie isn't perfect. It has minor problems with the sets, the accents, and even the pacing, but the story, songs and dancing are so fantastic that I can easily overlook all of that.

Top Hat (1935)

This movie is an enjoyable romantic comedy with some funny scenes, but it's a better romance than a comedy. It features some terrific songs, and great dancing, but there are better mistaken identity rom-coms.

Fred Astaire is a fantastic dancer, especially when he dances with Ginger Rogers, making this movie worth watching.

Fate is the Hunter (1964)

This movie is a drama about a plane crash that is blamed on the pilot who died in the crash. The story is told in flashbacks as his friend investigates, trying to prove that the pilot didn't cause the crash.

The only thing I knew about this movie before watching it was the cast, but it turned out to be a terrific hidden gem. Glenn Ford, Suzanne Pleshette and Rod Taylor all give excellent performances.

The Thomas Crown Affair (1968)

This is an interesting heist movie with a terrific ending, but it suffers from a lot of flaws. The robbery is too unbelievable, and there's little chemistry between Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.

Steve McQueen doesn't work for me as the lead. He's not charismatic enough for that type of rich playboy. Faye Dunaway's character is too unbelievable. She figures out the whole caper with practically no clues. She just seems to pull all the answers right out of the air. It just makes no sense how easily she solves the case.

I love how you do these monthly overall updates of what you saw throughout the whole month. I should have done the same, it gives you (and the others checking in) a nice little overview of your movie watching habits for that month. Pretty awesome.

Sometimes I forget to rep you but I do check in to your thread once in a while. I like how it's really straight forward but delivers exactly enough for pretty much everybody to keep track of everything. In comparison, the fewest of members have time for my enormous write-ups, so these are just perfect for a movie diary actually. Good work with all this GB, keep it up!

Thank you. I'm not a rep hound so I don't get upset about not getting rep. I just use it as a gauge to get an idea of whether or not people are reading my posts. I'm not much of a writer, so I'm just happy to know that you and some other people are reading and enjoying this thread.

I enjoy reading the large write-ups that you and some other members write, (usually after I've seen the movie). I wish I had that kind of writing talent, but sadly, that's an artform that I never mastered.

My parents freaking love The Thomas Crown Affair. Both versions.

That Titanic movie sounds great. I am not a fan of the 90's version.

I like the 90's version of Titanic, but I don't love it as much as a lot of other people. I think it's a good movie, but it's a bit overrated. I think A Night to Remember (1958) is a better movie because it focuses more on the tragedy, rather than the love story as in the 90's version.
