Damn gb, I'm sad to hear that. but just take your time fixing what needs fixing, you as a happy person is certainly a better thing than you doing "forced" reviews, though we do like them - we just like you a little bit more, and we wouldn't wanna see you disappear forever on us! :/

Anyways take care of yourself gb, the Mofos are here for you if you need us!

I'd give her a HA! and a HI-YA! Then I'd kick her.

Mary Poppins (1964)

Julie Andrews stars as Mary Poppins, a magical nanny who is hired to take care of two young children, (Karen Dotrice and Matthew Garber). Dick Van Dyke plays Bert, a chimney sweep who is a good friend of Mary Poppins, and he has several other roles in the movie as he helps her entertain the children.

This movie is mostly live-action, but it has some wonderful animated scenes where the people interact with the animated characters. My personal favorite of these scenes is when Dick Van Dyke sings and dances with animated penguins.

Julie Andrews has one of the most beautiful voices ever, and she's superb in this movie. I'm sure that everyone has heard the song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, even if you haven't seen the movie, but this movie has many more terrific songs that make this movie one of the best musicals ever made.

If you're looking for a fun movie, and you like musicals, don't miss this fantastic movie.

Thank you for your support. I'm not going anywhere. I'm just slowing down a little bit for a while. This site is actually one of the few things that's keeping my sanity in check right now.

Cold Turkey (1971)

A tobacco company offers $25,000,000 to any town in America that can stop smoking, or go cold turkey, for 30 days, because they are sure that no town will be able to do it, so they're sure that they won't have to pay the money. Reverend Clayton Brooks, (Dick Van Dyke), convinces the townspeople of a town in Iowa to try to quit smoking and win the money.

This movie has a great cast of top-notch comedic actors, including Dick Van Dyke, Bob Newhart, Tom Poston, Barnard Hughes, Jean Stapleton, and more, so maybe my expectations were too high, but I expected this movie to be much funnier than it is. It's a good story, and there are some funny scenes, but the movie just doesn't have enough laughs. It's worth seeing if you've never seen it, and if don't set your expectations too high you'll probably enjoy the movie, but it's not likely to make anyone's favorite movies list.

Easter Parade (1948)

This movie is more about the songs and dances than the plot. The story is a pretty standard romance, but the songs make the movie wonderful. Between Judy Garland's amazing voice, Fred Astaire's fantasic dancing, and the creative choreography, this movie is a pleasure to watch.

Funny Face (1957)

While I like both Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire, I just didn't feel any connection between them in this movie. The songs are kind of hit or miss for me. Some are good, but others are just forgettable.

Alfie (1966)

This movie is kind of slow, and even a little bit boring. There's nothing likable about the character Alfie. Why do women flock to him? I like the idea of him breaking the fourth wall throughout the movie, but I don't really get the appeal of this movie.

The biggest problem with this movie is the casting of Michael Caine in the title role. I usually like Michael Caine, but his accent was a lot stronger back then, making it hard to understand him at times. In addition, Michael Caine doesn't work for me as a playboy. IMO, he's not handsome or charismatic enough to get that many women.

But I like the theme song.

Underworld U.S.A. (1961)

This is a very good movie, but it's a bit too violent for my taste. It's a pretty straight-forward story, and it moves along at a steady pace, but it's kind of predictable.

Cliff Robertson does a great job in this movie. He is very convincing as a man who is seeking revenge for his father's murder.

Annie Get Your Gun (1951)

This is a great movie with a wonderful story, some exciting scenes, and lots of fantastic songs. Each song is better than the one before it.

Betty Hutton was fantastic in this movie. I never thought that Howard Keel had leading man good looks, but he had a great voice.

The Enchanted Cottage (1945)

This is a beautiful, romantic movie about two unattractive people who find love in an enchanted cottage with a hidden secret. It's made even more interesting with the blind neighbor who has the ability to "see" the secret of the cottage.

Robert Young and Dorothy McGuire are terrific together. The only issue that I have with this movie is that Dorothy McGuire's character looks kind of homely, but she not so ugly that she would be a hideous outcast.

Three Coins in the Fountain (1954)

This is an enjoyable movie, but it's not great. I like the idea that throwing a coin into the fountain would grant their wish to return to Rome, but I didn't think there was enough chemistry between the couples to care if they ended up together.

The theme song sung by Frank Sinatra is nice.

Mask (1985)

This is a great movie about 16-year-old Rocky Dennis, who had a deformity that made him look terribly disfigured, but he didn't let it stop him from trying to live a normal life. This movie is very emotional with some top-notch performances by the entire cast.

Eric Stoltz is superb as Rocky Dennis. He does a terrific job of making us feel what he's going through. He makes us feel happy when he's happy, and sad when he's sad. He makes us want to cry when he gets hurt emotionally by some people who can't see beyond his physical appearance.

Trying Real Hard To Be The Shepherd
I used to like Mask a lot. It was one of my mom's favorites so I have seen it a few times. I should revisit sometime.

Trouble with a capitial 'T'
Wow, you've watched a lot of musicals lately, good...that will come in handy down the road when the Musical Hof is on

Mamma Mia! ( I expected to NOT like this, but I enjoyed it!)

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (My wife likes this one)

Mary Poppins ( I like this one)

Yankee Doodle Dandy (I like B&W films but I wish this had been shot in technicolor)

The Band Wagon (Cyd Charisse and Fred Astaire can't go wrong there)

Easter Parade ( I need to see this one again, I did like it though.)

Funny Face ( I thought Fred was too old for her, it would have been better if he was her mentor/friend.)

Annie Get Your Gun (This is one fun musical!)

The Enchanted Cottage (1945) (not a musical but it sounds very interesting. I'm going to watch sometime.)
