Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (Jay Roach, 1997) -

[REWATCH]

It was like 10:30 last night and I still hadn't watched a movie, and we were talking about this movie in another thread so I threw it on. This is one of the most nostalgic movies ever for me.

Trying Real Hard To Be The Shepherd
I totally forgot about Myers being in Clerks.

Myers in Clerks?

I've never gotten the appeal of Austin Powers, but then, I'm not a fan of the films it's mocking/parodying, either.

Nostalgia plays a HUGE factor in my enjoyment of it. To be honest, I'm not sure I'd care for it otherwise. Who knows.

Neither am I, but I still liked them.

Apart from great perfomances (especially from Rufallo, who outshines everyone else) I didn't like this a lot! The pacing is horrible, Carell offers an interesting character but it lacks some depth, and except the climax I felt really bored! I didn't like the editing too!
I liked the atmosphere though and there were some wrestling scenes quite interesting!

Trying Real Hard To Be The Shepherd
Bummer you didn't like it Neiba. One of my few favorites this year. It is slow but in a great way for me. I just think I got lost in the atmosphere your talking about. It was like some Neanderthal alternate universe. I thought the performances were spot on by all three as well.

I thought Tatum was easily the best of the three. Carell's makeup was quite distracting to say the least.

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (Jay Roach, 1999) -

[REWATCH]

I actually think I like this one more than the first one. Maybe not. Both are really entertaining. Yeah baby, yeah!

Why don't they do musicals like this anymore? Perfect in every way! Great story, funny, charming, with natural transitions to songs, well acted and with amazing tap-dance scenes! Every actor here is amazing but Donald O'Connor is from another galaxy!
Every musical should learn from this! It's so above everything made nowadays!

I think that the spy who shagged me is the only Austin Powers I have seen in it's entirety. Really funny stuff.

Had a really good day today. Wrote a short script, shot one of the scenes, and watched two great horror movies. Life is good.

Drag Me to Hell (Sam Raimi, 2009) -
+
[REWATCH]

I kind of consider this a return to form for Sam Raimi. It's the best thing he's made since the Evil Dead flicks. It's a great example of horror sucking you in from the get-go - a brilliant opening scene that gets you pumped! And that ending. Man, I get chills every time... I don't want to spoil anything, but yeah, it is one badass ending. I love the cast too. Alison Lohman and Justin Long are both incredibly likable in their roles. All around a really great and underrated horror film.

Braindead (Peter Jackson, 1992) -

[REWATCH]

One of my fave horror flicks, really. It has some of the coolest effects. Old-school Peter Jackson is awesome and I want him to make another horror movie dammit. I believe this has the record of most blood used in a movie, doesn't it? Anyway, quirky as hell but such a likable film. Best line? "I kick a$$ for the lord!" It's the way he says it.

Before man was, war waited for him.
Never seen Drag Me to Hell, but Braindead is fantastic. I think I might have voted for it when we did the 90s countdown.

The 90s countdown is the reason I became a member here #JiraffeJustinFacts

Before man was, war waited for him.
I've always been afraid to watch it. I was worried it would be too much like The Evil Dead, and as you know, I don't like The Evil Dead. I have always liked that poster though.

Well, give it a try. Also, you suck for not liking The Evil Dead. But that's a different story. I imagine someone who doesn't like the Evil Dead movies might still like Drag Me to Hell. They're different beasts.
