Name For My Band

Tools

I find that, as a general rule, the really famous bands usually have simpler names, whereas local bands go with more interesting, funny, or bizarre monikers. I've always kinda taken that to mean that the band, not the name, ought to be the grabber. I'd also venture to guess that a a simpler name is easier to remember...a quality which may be more important enough to give it an edge over a name which is intriguing, but odd.

With that in mind, I think "Portable" is the best of the bunch.

No! Simplicity is the devil! Go with "The Minion of TV and His Oddly Amusing Assortment of Musical Accompini... Accompnimin... Guys That Play Instruments."

It's gold, baby. Pure gold.

I don't see how you can have both Interpol and Joy Division as influences. They arent that much different soundwise, if at all.

if people can have sequels [george bush 2, lines palsy 2 [jr.], henry 8, for example], i dont see why bands cant. it's just that the sequel has to be related to the original through a patriarchal blood tie. for example [and this is completely hypothetical, mind you, i'm not saying it actually happen--hey! i did not read this in a tabloid!], say john, george, ringo, and paul each impregnated yoko nonconsecutively, and the horrible little creatures produced started their own brittish invasion band, and decided to call it the beatles. by convention wouldnt it actually be "the beatles 2"? hmmmm, yes i see... very inktereesting......
of course this has nothing to do with minion's band, minion will never be able to call his band the beatles 2, unless he is the terrible product of some unholy union between four moptopped young lads and a certain black-clad wailing asian woman [i'm stroking my chin whiskers in a knowing fashion].

are you, minion?

ah, as an alternative you could always call yourselves "the bleatles".

If you're gonna go with something weird, I'm throwing my weight behind "Aristotle Shat His Robe."

Either that or "Paperweight Watchers."

I See You When You're Sleeping
After heavy discussions yesterday, we have final decided on a name and it wasn't in the list. First a few comments..

Yes, the vocals are similar but the music (interpol) is dare I say, more uplifting? I like both Joy Division and Interpol, I like to think that's where Joy Division left off before the others created New Order in which I've never been much of a fan. Oh and you're right about "Scatterbrain", we just thought we may get away with it not being a single or anything but it's too recent.

Yes, this is exactly how we came up with a name, we didn't think about it too much and so didn't argue when we chose a simple name.

Thanks for your help guys, there was some good suggestions and some really bad ones I particularly liked Yoda's "paperweight watchers", what was that a reference to? - great writers having writers block or something ?

The name we've went with is " corridor "

Nah. Just a combination of "paperweight" and "Weight Watchers," a famous weight-loss program.

Sounds good. Good luck, and rock on.

Go you Huskies!

I think a band should cal themselves The Beatles II, just to see how many death threats they would receive.
