The small subplot involving Washington's own troubles with his wife felt shafted in the end and wrapped up with some quick lines of dialogue.

I also appreciated the natural and endearing performances of Derek Luke as Antwone and Joy Bryant as love interest Cheryl as well as the stylistic touches like the dream sequence and first-person perspective while Antwone walks into his mother's apartment.
