Swan Proves He Has Good Musical Taste With 50 Albums

Tools

Okay, this is like Sexy's 100 Movies thread - these are NOT my top 50 albums of all-time in order. They are simply 50 albums I like very much and consider favorites. My #1 favorite may be #5 on the list... it may be #46... it may not be on the list at all! Who knows, it's nebulous.

50. Dummy
(Portishead, 1994)

TOP FIVE SONGS:
1. Glory Box
2. It Could Be Sweet
3. Biscuit
4. Sour Times
5. Strangers

I bought this album after getting into Massive Attack and looking for other trip hop artists. This was a name that constantly came up, so I checked them out, bought Dummy, and loved it. Beth Gibbons is a stunning singer.

Sorry, with that thread title I couldn't resist.

Actually I have "Glory Box" playing right now. I'm definitely not loving it, but it's not bad.

49. Jewellery
(Micachu, 2009)

TOP FIVE SONGS:
1. Golden Phone
2. Lips
3. Vulture
4. Eat Your Heart
5. Curly Teeth

Micachu is the stage name of Mica Levi, who composed the score for Under the Skin. Her "experimental pop", as she calls it, is very different from what you hear in the film however. Micachu did a second album called Never, which is equally good, and I might post it in this thread. I Imagine most are going to hate this, but hopefully JJ won't, and I know Godoggo likes "Golden Phone".

By the way - Mica Levi is a chick, if any of you can't tell. I think she's a lesbian.

48. (Pronounced...)
(Lynyrd Skynyrd, 1973)

TOP FIVE SONGS:
1. Simple Man
2. I Aint the One
3. Things Goin' On
4. Mississipi Kid
5. Gimme Three Steps

This was my absolute favorite album at one point when I was maybe 12. My dad was introducing me to all sorts of music and he bought this for me, and I couldn't stop listening to it. I remember learning "Simple Man" on guitar and playing it so much my fingers bled (figuratively). Fantastic album, one of my favorites of classic rock.

I left "Free Bird" off the list because it's kind of worn it's wear with me, and it's the most popular one, but rest assured, back then, you know I was rocking out to that sh*t.

Not digging that Micachu thing. +rep for Skynyrd, but no Tuesday's Gone? Also I personally rank Gimme Three Steps much higher than that.

"Tuesday's Gone" is great, but there's only five songs I can pick. Actually, there's not a bad note on the entire album.

I remember listening to the album for the first time and "Gimme Three Steps" was the only one on the album I had heard before. So it was my favorite in the beginning, while I was first exploring the album.

Is that higher than an alto?

I asked Yoda to delete this thread. I will conclude this with the cover of the greatest album of all-time.

I can feel the millions of patronizing eyes of the millions of snobs burning holes into this thread. It will crumble anyway due to the fire.
