I thought it would be a good idea to start a review thread of my own. The movies that I will be watching are the ones I have never seen before. Don't expect that I can review a movie every single week because of activites that I am already doing and academics. I can't wait to start reviewing movies. Also, join the conservation about the film I am reviewing if you want to do that as well.

Glad to see another review thread, always nice to read other people opinions. You will have a tough task beating Sexy's and Jaydee's reviews, jeez it must take them about a week to write them.
I'm doing a similar thing with horror movies I've never seen. I look forward to seeing your future reviews, and I certainly will join the conversation if I have any input to offer.
Movie Review of Rob Marshall's Chicago
Every film buff has a genre that they don't like a lot and they are nervous about exploring the films in that genre. The genre I don't like is musicals. I really dislike musicals because they sing too much to the point where I will get annoyed. Some musicals have the perfect amount of singing and talking to the point where I won't get irritated.
The plot of the movie seems very simple, but it gets more complicated as the story as continues. The plot is about a girl named Roxie Hart (Renee Zellweger)who gets arrested after killing her boyfriend after he lied to her. When Roxie starts becoming famous after being in jail for a while, a girl named Velma Carter (Catherine Zeta- Jones gets more jealous for many reason. Roxie is now Billy Flynn's (Richard Gene) top client and she is getting more famous than her.
The acting from the supporting characters were fantastic. Every single supporting character in this movie portray their characters emotions very well. Even thought, they did a good job, the main characters had brilliant acting from most of the actors.
Catherine Zeta Jones did a great job playing Velma, but I don't see why she got a Academy Award for that role. Renee Zellweger nailed the role of playing Roxie. She could of easily won the Academy Award for Best Actress for that year. Richard Gene playing the role Billy was okay, but it was not as memorable as the other main characters.
If you are not a huge fan of musicals like me, Chicago would be a good fit for you. The film is not a perfect film at all, but it is worth seeing.

Jack Arnold's Creature from the Black Lagoon
I love watching the early stages of monster movies when it was black and white films through the 1930's through the 1950's. I though that watching this film was a good idea and it was worth waiting for the suspense to happen.
The plot takes awhile to develop. The first five minutes to ten minutes is about scientists finding the creature hand as a fossil. After that scientists were talking about the fossil they are learning about. In about thirty minutes you realize that the plot was about scientists that are survive by not getting killed from the creature from the black lagoon. Now, I'm going to tell you one of the best parts of the movie before you fall asleep.
The best part of this film is the monster from the black lagoon. This monster changes everything in this film. The film gets more exciting when the monster appears. Also, you get to learn more about the creature and the perspective of both man and monster. Without the monster, we wouldn't learn why the creature feels lonely and you wouldn't be sad if it dies just because the creature is in love with a woman. Also, the main message of the movie wouldn't be such a impact without him.
If you are looking for a monster movie back from the 1950's that build suspense as the film progresses and has a impact up message I would recommend this film.

John Huston's The Maltese Falcon
A film noir has to have certain features to make it a classical film noir film. It has to have a complex plot, secretive lovers, and memorable twists at the end. This movie has all the certain features that make it a classical film for many decades.
The plot of the film is not worth mentioning at all. If I told you all of the twist and turns the movie wouldn't be that much fun to watch at all.
The acting was really good. Humphrey Bograt really nailed the tough and vulnerable Sam Spade. Peter Lorre did a great job of playing Joel Cario. He was a memorable and scary villian at the same time. I had a great time watching all the actors and actresses playing these characters.
If you love a film noir that has great acting, a complex plot, and memorable twists that makes this classical film noir is worth seeing.

I watched The Maltese Falcon the other day and I agree with you that it's a fantastic film. Like you said it has all the essential noir elements, Mary Astor's character for me is one of the greatest 'femme fatale' women I have seen, at no point can we trust her, and she is constantly lying and manipulative to suit her own needs, from the very get go right to the end.

Alfred Hitchcock's Notrious
Alfred Hitchcock is one of my favorite directors of all time and this film contains the suspense that came to expect from Hitchock. Also, this film contains surprises that I didn't expect at all.
The plot is about a woman Alica Huberman (Ingrid Bergman). Her dad was a recently undiscovered Nazi traitor and she got a job from Brazil. Her job is to spy on a person named Alexander Sebastian (Claude Rains) and to report on what is necessary to T.R Delvin (Cary Grant).
The acting from Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains, and Cary Grant were really good since you can possibly relate to them. Ingrid Bergman makes you feel so much emotion to her character, that most people would support her and that all of her problems will go away. Claude Rains did an excellent job as a main villian of this movie. Claude makes you feel awful that Alex's mother is always being jealous about him marrying the love of his life. Cary Grant played T. R Delvin pretty well. In this film, you wonder how Delvin will handle his personal life and business for all of this movie. This makes Delvin a character you want to root for, even if he has been really mean to Alicia.

Notorious was quite boring for me. The whole "Nazis in Brazil" thing didn't work out well for me (given that I live in Brazil and it doesn't seem to make sense, given that Brazil was one of the Allied countries, that's the same as claiming that nazis could have escaped to Canada or UK, for instance).

Brazil was fine. Mengele did die there although he spent most of his time in South America elsewhere. Notorious isn't a documentary of course. There are plenty of movies about Nazis in Canada (49th Parallel) and America (The Stranger) too.

I got a idea that will makes the film review that makes this review different than usual. This idea is called Suggestions from a Film Buff. Suggestions from a Film Buff is a movie review that gives helpful advice to people who are currently directing in the movie industry. This idea could possibly involves suggestion to sequels, remakes, prequels, and orginal movies. Today I will give Zack Synder some advice if he is going to direct Man of Steel 2.
Doug Liman's The Bourne Idenitity
Dear Mr. Synder,
I understand that making a Superman movies can be challenging for a film maker who wants to makes Superman have a darker vibe to his character. I have a movie suggestion that will help you with having the right amount of character development and action for Man of Steel 2.if you are directing it. The film is called The Bourne Identity.
The character devolopment in this movie is wonderful to watch. From the beginning to the end, you learn more about Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) previous lifestyle before he is getting chased from the CIA for being a former spy. This makes you feel bad for Jason because he has extremely bad memory loss, he has to learn about his identity, and he has to meet people that he has mainly forgot about.
The action is great because it's thrilling, exciting, and suspenseful at the same time. In this film, you have no idea when the action scences will start, unless you seem this film before.
I hope that these suggestions will help you make the Man of Steel 2 better if you are directing it.

Paul Greengrass's The Bourne Supremacy
Movie sequels in the film industry can be very good or very bad. The Bourne Supremacy is one great example of a very good sequel that makes the audience satisfied on wha they saw from the beginnig to the end.
The plot continues after The Bourne Idenity, so it is necessary to see the first film before seeing this one or the audience member could get very confused. The plot is still about Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) trying to learn more of his past since he got amnesia and he is stuck in a conspiracy that includes the CIA and Operation Treadstone.
The acting from everyone was just as believable just like the first. Matt Famon plays Jason Bourne perfectly and I can't imagine these films being this good without him. The supporting actors were great at protraying their characters. You feel sorry for these characters because they all have the same goal about Jason Bourne for the most part.
The action was really thrilling. The shaky camera help this movie because you feel like torn are with Jason as he is trying to escape Treadstone and the CiA. Without, the shaky camera the action wouldn't be that suspenseful without it.
The movie made me very satisfied for the most part and this sequel is worth the watch if you love great thrilling action and acting that is very relative to what could happen if you are a wanted spy from the CIA. This sequel is worth your time when it comes to watching a film franchise.

A fun cute kiddie movie that will make the older adults laugh. It has fun movie references to film you seen before. It was worth your time seeing at the movie theaters and it a great sequel to Despicable Me.

It's sad to see some parts of my childhood being completely gone and these films were part of my childhood. The third film was good, but it was no match for the first one. I had a good time seeing the gang making back to NYC and villian of this film was the best part of the film. Thank you for making so many childhood memories Dreamworks when it comes to this franchise
