Well, you're obviously mad. Usually I'd apologize, but I'm not going to, because I'm not out of line here. I'm sorry that you're mad, but I'm not sorry for what I've said here. Maybe this isn't very evident, but I worked my butt off to get this site going, and I'm working even harder, and more often, on the new site. I am completely terrified at the thought of the site being brought down due to some cost or problem...
...I've got a lot of experience with online communities, and a potential downfall is a forum losing it's focus and turning into a goofy chit-chat board. Chit-chat has it's place...Badger is a great example. I love the Badger thread...but we've got threads now about how cute someone is, tons of posts with people arguing about post counts, and who knows how many other one-line posts. Isn't it obvious that something is up when the Intermission forum is a somewhat close second to the General Movie Discussion forum in number of posts? It's closing in rapidly, too.
As much as I love how hilarious you guys are sometimes (and yes, I am 100% sincere in saying that...sometimes I completely dig your witty banter), there are always times where I become discouraged. I don't know why so many of you are ticked at me, and assume I'm a tight-a**, just because I want to reduce waste and really goofy chit-chat stuff that should be saved for email. If you think I'm out of line for that, then I've got nothing I can say to you, because I know I'm right in those decisions. This is how it is, and how it will continue to be.
The new site will further promote these ideals. Posts in the new site's Intermission forum will not count against your post total, and I'm respectfully asking from now on that you keep really chat-like stuff to an absolute minimum. You can still have fun, though: post about a day in your life, or what's on your nightstand, or about your table manners, or about your 10 favorite movies, or sometime sort of random in the Badger thread, but threads about post counts, cuteness, flirting, and other stuff like that, is a bit over the line, IMO.
I'm sure this post has ticked some of you off. Well, I would say "tough" but that's a little harsh. Instead, I'll say this: Sorry, this is the way it is. This is the way it has to be, and this is the way I KNOW it should be.
Here's a simple test...I encourage you ALL to "take it," so to speak: if I were to remove the Intermission forum (which I won't do), would you stick around? If the answer is "no," then you're probably hanging around the wrong site.
