Well, last time he went to Japan he was mobbed by Japanese school girls so he must be pretty cute!

Could be...I'm not saying. :) I will say, however, that this is seriously vying for the most pointless thread ever posted here. Oh well.

PigsnieLite 10-02-01 10:43 PM

You always do know how to ruin a fun thingie dont you TWT?

Frederica 10-02-01 10:47 PM

There is a time for silliness and a time for serious stuff. But nothing is ever pointless. Life is too short :)

If a mild suggestion ruins fun, then you're overly sensitive. :) Just because I don't think this thread is 100% perfect, it doesn't mean it's worth getting upset over. Sometimes I'm too uptight, and sometimes you aren't serious enough. I wouldn't say that one or the other is necessarily better. You've obviously decided that I'm a complete tight-a** simply because I don't find chit-chat to be funny ALL the time over and over again...and hey, that's your choice...it's just a shame that you seem very set in that belief.

Ain't nothing I can do about it, though. I'd also like to remind you that threads like this may someday be the thing that ruins the fun thingy. JoBlo.com, which is far more successful than MoFo, may have to shutdown at the end of the year because of bandwidth costs. I don't want to have to do that. Just want you realize that sometimes it's a good thing to be serious and sensitive to things...I'm not just crashing your party here man...but honestly, you've got like 2-3 threads about your posts and how cute you are...I feel like this forum is losing it's focus.

PigsnieLite 10-02-01 11:14 PM

Thank you for clearin that up TWT. Good night.

Well, you're obviously mad. Usually I'd apologize, but I'm not going to, because I'm not out of line here. I'm sorry that you're mad, but I'm not sorry for what I've said here. Maybe this isn't very evident, but I worked my butt off to get this site going, and I'm working even harder, and more often, on the new site. I am completely terrified at the thought of the site being brought down due to some cost or problem...

...I've got a lot of experience with online communities, and a potential downfall is a forum losing it's focus and turning into a goofy chit-chat board. Chit-chat has it's place...Badger is a great example. I love the Badger thread...but we've got threads now about how cute someone is, tons of posts with people arguing about post counts, and who knows how many other one-line posts. Isn't it obvious that something is up when the Intermission forum is a somewhat close second to the General Movie Discussion forum in number of posts? It's closing in rapidly, too.

As much as I love how hilarious you guys are sometimes (and yes, I am 100% sincere in saying that...sometimes I completely dig your witty banter), there are always times where I become discouraged. I don't know why so many of you are ticked at me, and assume I'm a tight-a**, just because I want to reduce waste and really goofy chit-chat stuff that should be saved for email. If you think I'm out of line for that, then I've got nothing I can say to you, because I know I'm right in those decisions. This is how it is, and how it will continue to be.

The new site will further promote these ideals. Posts in the new site's Intermission forum will not count against your post total, and I'm respectfully asking from now on that you keep really chat-like stuff to an absolute minimum. You can still have fun, though: post about a day in your life, or what's on your nightstand, or about your table manners, or about your 10 favorite movies, or sometime sort of random in the Badger thread, but threads about post counts, cuteness, flirting, and other stuff like that, is a bit over the line, IMO.

I'm sure this post has ticked some of you off. Well, I would say "tough" but that's a little harsh. Instead, I'll say this: Sorry, this is the way it is. This is the way it has to be, and this is the way I KNOW it should be.

Here's a simple test...I encourage you ALL to "take it," so to speak: if I were to remove the Intermission forum (which I won't do), would you stick around? If the answer is "no," then you're probably hanging around the wrong site.
