Good whiskey make jackrabbit slap de bear.
Nice list, all of those choices deserve to be there.

But at the risk of sounding controversial, I never liked Blade Runner. There's nothing extraordinary about it, except for Rutger Hauer's performance as Roy Batty and the art direction, which I think was nominated for an Oscar.

Donnie Darko is brilliant. I only first watched it last week!

It's a nice mix of stuff, in regards to both eras and styles, and any list that includes the two Tarkovsky and Blade Runner is OK by me. There are a few on there I don't think much of at all, and given your taste I'd say the absence of A Boy and His Dog (1975), Carpenter's The Thing, Gilliam's 12 Monkeys (1995) and the first two versions of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956 & 1978) is a might conspicuous. But maybe you just haven't seen them yet, or they aren't your thing somehow?

There are quite a few existing threads on the topic, if you want to add your list there and compare and contrast with other members. You can find Sci-Fi movie threads HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE, for starters.

I never even heard of Worst #7.

What the [Bleep] Do We Know!? is a quasi-documentary bit of psychobabble and pseudoscience supposedly tying together quantum mechanics and consciousness that has, almost quite literally, a cult behind it, espousing the woo-woo theories of Masaru Emoto, among others. It has been described as Passion of the Christ for the New Age crystal-wearing Hippie set.

If you watch it ironically as a recruitment video played at a seminar looking to indoctrinate the unsuspecting into an Ashram, it can be mildly amusing, sort of. If you take it seriously for even half a second - YOWZA!

I think quantum mechanics has been in the popular sphere of discussion for long enough that seeing its metaphors used is pretty common. A Serious Man is a recent example. Apparently... some people don't get the difference between figurative and literal language and "scale-up" quantum mechanics to the macro, which just doesn't work, since it only "exists" on the, well, quantum level.

Great list and I agree with every one on it except I haven't finished watching Sunshine yet to pass judgement.

I hear they are making a new Total recall - is that true?
