I always find these lists interesting, regardless of whether I agree with the films. Everyone has some rubbish films that they love. It would be dull if everyone's top 100 was the same as the afi list or the imdb top250.

"Do you leave a light on after bedtime? Because I get a little scared in the dark sometimes. If it's a strange place."

75. The Green Mile

"Nicky's methods of betting weren't scientific, but they worked. When he won, he collected. When he lost, he told the bookies to go f*ck themselves. I mean, what were they going to do, muscle Nicky? Nicky was the muscle."

74. Casino

"This is my most special place in all the world, Ray. Once a place touches you like this, the wind never blows so cold again. You feel for it, like it was your child."

73. Field of Dreams

"Are you the kind that sees signs, sees miracles? Or do you believe that people just get lucky? Or, look at the question this way: Is it possible that there are no coincidences?"

72. Signs

"Either they don't know, don't show, or don't care about what's going on in the hood."

71. Boyz n the Hood

Big difference. Many people, myself included, can recognize the quality of the craftsmanship of a film but not really be a big fan of the film. For instance, it isn't a favorite of mine, per se, but, I like the film Flash Gordon a whole lot. The thing is campy, silly, and is put together in a cheap and over-the-top way. I won't sit here and say it's a seminal piece of film making, but, I like to watch it.

Vast difference between favorite and best, IMO.

Also, The Illusionist was fantastic! Why didn't you like it? And Iwo Jima... Come on ...good stuff!

65. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut

"Welcome...to the real world."

64. The Matrix

"You know what crazy is? Crazy is majority rules. Take germs, for example."
"Germs?"
"Uh-huh. In the eighteenth century, no such thing, nada, nothing. No one ever imagined such a thing. No sane person, anyway. Ah! Ah! Along comes this doctor, uh, uh, uh, Semmelweis, Semmelweis. Semmelweis comes along. He's trying to convince people, well, other doctors mainly, that's there's these teeny tiny invisible bad things called germs that get into your body and make you sick. Ah? He's trying to get doctors to wash their hands. What is this guy? Crazy? Teeny, tiny, invisible? What do you call it? Uh-uh, germs? Huh? What? Now, cut to the 20th century. Last week, as a matter of fact, before I got dragged into this hellhole. I go in to order a burger in this fast food joint, and the guy drops it on the floor. Jim, he picks it up, he wipes it off, he hands it to me like it's all OK. "What about the germs?" I say. He says, "I don't believe in germs. Germs is just a plot they made up so they can sell you disinfectants and soaps." Now he's crazy, right? See? Ah! Ah! There's no right, there's no wrong, there's only popular opinion."

63. 12 Monkeys

"Well, it's Groundhog Day...again...

62. Groundhog Day

"'P.Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney.' I remembered it. I bet I could even remember it again...'P.Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney.' I did it again!"

61. Finding Nemo

Lost in never never land
Three movies I don't like in that last bunch, and five which are sweet. Definitely an interesting group of films that are making up this list, no real dominant genre.

I really don't like 12 Monkeys, but Groundhog Day is great. Really cool list...

I am loving this thread, some really good movies in it but some that I don't like.

I like the fact that you take lines from out of some of the movies, just reading this thread brings back some memories of watching some of them

Gilliam is a fantastic, creative, expressive director. I love everything of his I have seen, especially the brilliant 12 Monkeys. One of the best sci-fi films ever made, IMO.

Lost in never never land
I must admit I'm a big fan of Gilliam was well. Brother's Grimm definitely wasn't his best work, I would say either 12 Monkeys or The King Fisher would be my favorites, I haven't seen either recently enough to say which though.

"Here is the list of things to do while I'm away. Batteries need to be replaced. Toys in the bottom of the chest need to be rotated. Oh, and make sure everyone attends Mr. Spell's seminar on what to do if part of you is swallowed. Okay? Okay, good, okay."

60. Toy Story 2

"Come on you guys, let's get moving."
"Yeah, by the time we get there the kid won't even be dead anymore."

59. Stand By Me

"Alright, listen up, people. Our fugitive has been on the run for ninety minutes. Average foot speed over uneven ground barring injuries is 4 miles-per-hour. That gives us a radius of six miles. What I want from each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's name is Dr. Richard Kimble. Go get him."

58. The Fugitive

"I'm here trying to squeeze a dollar out of a dime, and I ain't even got a cent man."

57. Hustle & Flow

"Two reasons: one, I hate when the people can't shut up about the stupid tabloid headlines. And two, to make a point: title does not dictate behavior. If title dictated my behavior, as a clerk serving the public, I wouldn't be allowed to spit a mouthful of water at that guy. But I did, so my point is that people dictate their own behavior. Hence, even though I'm a clerk in this video store, I choose to go rent videos at Big Choice. Agreed?"

56. Clerks

"No kiddo, at this moment, this is me at my most masochistic."

55. Kill Bill Vol. I

"YOU! ARE! A! TOOOOOYYYYY!"

54. Toy Story

"I believe in two things: discipline and the Bible. Here you'll receive both. Put your trust in the Lord; your ass belongs to me. Welcome to Shawshank."

53. The Shawshank Redemption

"Here I was born, and there I died. It was only a moment for you; you took no notice."

52. Vertigo

"'Bluffing. The word is...bluffing."

51. Quiz Show

Gilliam is a fantastic, creative, expressive director. I love everything of his I have seen, especially the brilliant 12 Monkeys. One of the best sci-fi films ever made, IMO.
What did you love about it? This is my Flixster review of it: Terry Gilliam fulfills his vision with great confidence and finesse, and this is an impressive film from a technical standpoint. However, the only performance I was satisfied with was Pitt's, and there are plenty of problems in the writing. Yes, it's a well constructed story, but there is an utter lack of character development and the dialogue is often awkward and unconvincing. I was led through a complex plot by characters who I didn't care about, so I was completely indifferent to the result of the story. Highly overrated.

It is interesting how people's tastes are so different - not just that one person can like a completely different set of films to the next, that wouldn't be weird at all, really, but that someone can like some of the films you love, and also some of the films you really hate.

Bobby's list has some of my favourites - Quiz Show, The Matrix, Stand By Me...........but also Revenge of the Sith and Kill Bill.

I love Kill Bill. Bobby's list definitely has a mix of my faves and not-so-faves too. Maybe I'll post my top 100 when he's done, although it always seems to be changing...

41. Wedding Crashers

Interesting list Bobby... you have several listed I've never seen so my 'to see' list just got a little longer....

The Insider is a great film, for sure. Al Pacino actually listed Russell Crowe as one of the three best working actors we've got (the other two were Johnny Depp and Sean Penn).
