Clerks 2 is a film that rather like the original is a marmite film, you love it or you hate it, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. I don't think it is Smith's best film, for me what award goes to Dogma but I do think it is a good film none the less. I remember hearing in an interview with Kevin Smith on an interview for Mark Kermode he said that the idea of Clerks II was to see how the characters of Dante & Hicks had moved on, grown up and basically became they people they are. There are two scenes from both films that for me sum this up perfectly:
Both scenes for me are wonderful, they may not even win massive awards but they are honest, open and two people who may be friends but are not unwilling to telling each other exactly how they feel.
