this is a tricky one i need to say

1.fight club
il think more into it later........
I just wrote an "Ode to Fight Club," but to call it a cult film isn't correct.

My vote: Repo Man

Fight Club is referred to as a cult film in many circles of film talk...

Fight Club didn't do much for me. It was, of course, a much better book.

To me a cult movie is something like Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I have to return some videotapes.
If we are going to base cult status on economics, I think the Blair Witch Project has to mentioned. Translating $35,000 into $250 million is quite the accomplishment. Although, I don't know anyone that currently owns a copy or has the desire to watch it over again, so its cult status was fleeting. Personally Office Space takes the cake as my top 'cult' film.

My vote would be Battle Royale...if you're into that sort of thing.

Also Eating Raul was a pretty good mind job.

exactly the evil dead series are the biggest cult movies and they just never get old

made $5,520,368 in box office

i would say any film with a highly dedicated fan-base is a cult film , but it seems the more broad defintion would also be a movie that didn't do well in box office

How the **** does a film that didn't do well at the box-office basis for cult status?

"This film sucked, no one went to see it because it was appalling, but at least from our failure we can now call it a 'cult' film"

Bollocks.

When someone asks you if you're a God, you say YES!!
I think my favorite cult film of all time is Army of Darkness. IMO, a cult film is one that didn't do well at the box office, but has found a life on video/DVD and has a strong underground following. A couple others that I love are of course Troll 2 and The Room. Classics.

Why do you love this movie? It's one of the worst.

Ha. Well, that's what makes them the best actually. Troll 2 and The Room are so horrible that they are painful and yet hilarious to watch. I mean, Tommy Wiseau's performance alone is worth the price of admission. I've never seen this in one of the midnight showings they have every once in a while, but I would love to see it with a crowd.
