Most Shocking Death Scenes?

Tools

John Coffey in The Green Mile. Not that shocking as tearful.
And death of Nina Sayers in Black Swan, that was very shocking.
The mouse guy that got fried (dry sponge) in the chair was pretty shocking.

I found the death scene at the beginning of Margaret to be shocking - in that it was unexpected and excruciating to watch.

Leon the professional pissed me off as well.

I'll second the deaths mentioned in LA CONFIDENTIAL and DEEP BLUE SEA...didn't see either of them coming at all. Gotta include Leonardo DiCaprio in THE DEPARTED as well...I seriously doubt anyone who saw that movie saw that one coming either. I was a little shocked when someone mentioned Eric Stolz in MASK because I have to admit that character just seemed invincible to me, despite the headaches he would get and his mom would lay in bed with him and remind him how to make them go away. I expected Rocky to outlive EVERYONE in that movie.

Pick anything from Final Destination, they are all shocking to me.

Also the first scene suicide in Grudge Part 1. Where the actor wakes up and jump off the balcony. I was just left scratching my head... "What just happened here??"

Sorry Harmonica.......I got to stay here.
I too thought the Dutch female assassin's fate in Munich was pretty shocking

WARNING: GRAPHIC SPOILER (this whole thread is a spoiler I guess...)

\m/ Fade To Black \m/
I just watched the new Maniac film and there is a death in it that involves someone being hogtied and brutally scalped while still being alive.

Finished here. It's been fun.
I recently watched The Place Beyond The Pines. Excellent film and (spoiler alert) when Luke Glanton died only 40 or so minutes in i almost crapped my pants, I couldn't believe it. I did not expect him to die in the film, and especially in such circumstances. That death seriously caught me completely off guard.

And when I'm all alone I feel I don't wanna hide
I remember being hugely overwhelmed with shock after watching Bridge to Terabithia for the first time.

Killing off children in movies is overwhelming, I agree with this one

Add to the fact that it's a family drama, the death was all the more overwhelming. I recall watching it for the first time some years ago and just being shocked that the film turned from a mystical, family fantasy to a hard-hitting, honest drama.

Captain of #yoloswag
Hot Fuzz when the chunk of the church falls and hits Tim Messenger.

Children of Men- Julian's death was very unexpected

The Godfather-sonny's death. Caught me off guard completely

Goodfellas-when Joe Pesci's character got whacked when he thought he was going to be a made man

Casino-Joe Pesci's character and his brother getting brutally murdered and buried alive. This scene was beyond gruesome.

One that shocked me was an underrated action flick with Kurt Russell and Stevan Seagal - Executive Decision. If you havent seen it I wont ruin it for ya'

As a kid, when the witches feet curled up under the house, is forever etched in my brain. You know the movie.

American History X
Burn After Reading
The Departed
The Shining
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
(works well, but I just didn't expect it to end that way)
Pulp Fiction (Vincent Vega - you should have watched this film by now)

Most of the others it should be obvious who I'm talking about.
