I have quite a few problems with
Begins, although I do think that it's boderline great, and can even see why some may prefer it over the other films in the trilogy. But yeah, it's probably my least favourite Nolan film if I had to pick one.
I probably overrate
Following a bit, but I think that stylistically, it's very charming (as well as a great guide on how to go about making a film very zero pennies), and it gets credit for being his first film, so whatever mistakes or faults are are at play, I tend to forgive them because, well, it's his first film.
As you guys can see, I have given
Rises a provisional 4 stars. I need to see it at least a couple of more times for a definitive grade, but I think I already know that I prefer it over
Inception, which, I also enjoy immensely when I do watch it, but i'm always thinking 'this is technically astounding stuff, but why don't I LOVE this?'. I think that film is the only time in which criticisms of Nolan being labelled a 'technical director' were valid.
