Dark Knight A

Inception C
Dark Knight Rises F
Insomnia (didn't see)

I hate ranking and rating. But, I'll make an exception...

The Dark Knight Rises (I just had more fun because it's not as dreary as TDK)
The Dark Knight (very, very close to TDKR)
Batman Begins
Inception
The Prestige
Following
Memento
Insomnia (did not like this one at all. It made me feel as tired as Pacino)

I am super biased because Batman made me fall in love with comics back when Burton made his first Bat-flick. That's why I hate ranking and rating...well, that and because I am fickle and prone to changing my opinion!

I am the Watcher in the Night
Keeping in mind I haven't seen Rises yet, here are my favourites:

1. Inception, the type of movie that keeps calling you back!
2. The Dark Knight, marks the exact point that comic book adaptations "grew up"
3. Memento, that glorious moment where it all comes together is worth repeated viewing
4. The Prestige, a bit too silly at the end but 2/3 of the movie is not only enjoyable, it is also highly thought provoking
5. Insomnia, finally got to see a mostly subdued Pacino and Robins is creepily good. One of his best roles.
6. Batman Begins, wiped the slate clean after Joel's horror run with the franchise

Batman Begins ****
The Prestige ****
The Dark Knight ****
The Dark Knight Rises ****

1. Memento -

2. The Dark Knight -

3. The Prestige -

4. Following -

5. Insomnia -

6. The Dark Knight Rises
(Provisional)
7. Inception -

8. Batman Begins -

I have quite a few problems with Begins, although I do think that it's boderline great, and can even see why some may prefer it over the other films in the trilogy. But yeah, it's probably my least favourite Nolan film if I had to pick one.

I probably overrate Following a bit, but I think that stylistically, it's very charming (as well as a great guide on how to go about making a film very zero pennies), and it gets credit for being his first film, so whatever mistakes or faults are are at play, I tend to forgive them because, well, it's his first film.

As you guys can see, I have given Rises a provisional 4 stars. I need to see it at least a couple of more times for a definitive grade, but I think I already know that I prefer it over Inception, which, I also enjoy immensely when I do watch it, but i'm always thinking 'this is technically astounding stuff, but why don't I LOVE this?'. I think that film is the only time in which criticisms of Nolan being labelled a 'technical director' were valid.
