Rank Christopher Nolan's films

My ranking of Christopher Nolan's movies from best to worst:
The Dark Knight (2008)
Inception (2010)
Memento (2000)
Insomnia (2002)
Tenet (2020)
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Batman Begins (2005)
Dunkirk (2017)
Interstellar (2014)
Oppenheimer (2023)

My ranking of Christopher Nolan's movies:

Batman Begins (2005)
The Dark Knight (2008)
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Didn't see any of them, not interested either.

Memento (2000)
Inception (2010)
Didn't like either. I'm not into mind trip movies, especially ones that feel manufactured to be trippy.

Interstellar (2014)
Liked it OK but in retrospect I don't think I want to watch it again.

Dunkirk (2017)
Didn't like it when it first came out, I even tried to rewatch it for the war countdown but shut if off after 30 minutes. No story to speak of, no character development, just lots of cinematography.

Oppenheimer (2023)
I'll watch it as I just rewatched last night, Fatman and Little Boy. I don't have much hope for Nolan's take on Oppenheimer but Cillian Murphy might make a good Oppy.

The movie is endless dialogue about communists. It's one of those boring committee hearings brought to boring cinematic experience.

Sounds like it could've been only 2 hours long. The biggie directors often seem to have an ego need to make 3 hour movies which is fine if they deliver 3 hours worth of goods. I haven't seen it but have been reading the reviews here in the Oppenheimer thread. I'll still watch it when it becomes available.

It could have been 90 minutes movie about science and logistics of creating atomic bomb and it's philosophic implications. But all that is just a minor feature of the movie.

If you don't like trippy movie,- Oppenheimer is intentionally trippy, unnecessarily jumping back and forth between different timelines and plot threads.

1. Memento
2. Oppenheimer
3. Following
4. Dunkirk
5. The Dark Knight
6. Inception
7. The Prestige
8. Interstellar
9. The Dark Knight Rises

Not sure where to fit Doodlebug into these rankings, but it's pretty good.

Oh god I hate movies that do that. I guess I'll still watch it when it hits streaming.

Top tier: Memento, Prestige, Interstellar, Inception, Batman Begins
Mid: Dark Knight Rises, Oppenheimer, Following
Lower: Tenet, Dark Knight, Dunkirk, Insomnia

Can't even see where the knob is
1. The Prestige - 8/10
2. Memento - 7/10
3. Insomnia - 7/10
4. Inception - 7/10
5. Oppenheimer - 7/10
6. Interstellar - 6/10
7. Dunkirk - 6/10
8. Batman Begins - 6/10
9. The Dark Knight - 5/10
10. The Dark Knight Rises - 4/10
11. Tenet - 4/10

All of the Nolan-penned movies have the exact same writing weaknesses. He didn't learn much for Oppenheimer, I'm sad to report. Dialogue and characters are STILL suffering from excessive Nolanitis, although Oppenheimer's dialogue is so dense and plentiful it sort of masks the usual cheese factor. Nolan being able to coax standout performances from his cast also helps a great deal, since he doesn't have the adrenaline-fueled action pomp to benefit from this time around.
