My specialty would have to be classic horror (1970's and earlier) because those were the kind of films that got me into movies in the first place everything from the Universal Monster, Hammer, Creature Features from the Cold War, Night of the Living Dead, and so on.
Psychologically oriented suspense/thrillers in general. Alfred Hitchcock has long been my favorite director and always will be. I generally love to be on the edge of my seat, but a genuinely good Hitchcock film usually indicates that the "suspense", while relevant, is really taking a back seat to the more profound (not to mention personal) themes relating to relationships, obsession, and voyeurism, etc (see: Vertigo and Rear Window). Structurally with these films, I always love to be misled into believing the movie will head one way, only to be proven wrong when the revelation comes and forces one to reassess what has just been seen. Hitchcock aside, any filmmakers that carry a 'Hitchcockian' flavor with their movies while still retaining their own unique style, also fascinate me greatly (see Clouzot, De Palma, Chabrol, and Argento...)
What types of films do you specialize in?
What other types of films would you like to get to know better?
