How many times did you go to the movie theatre this year?

Getting close to 50 trips to the cinema for me this year. It would take me ages to list every one.

I didn't count or keep a record, but probably about 70 movies in a theater. I have several theaters that are close to good food venues, so, "dinner and a movie" is a nice night out, in a busy part of town. One is next to a food hall that also has music on Friday and Saturday, so it's dinner, music and a movie, a nice combination. It's one of the good things about life in the city.

Wow....saw those in a theater? Was it a vintage horror festival?

There's a 100+ year old theater in town that shows a classic film every Sunday morning. Dracula's Daughter screened in October. Dracula was shown back in the spring when Cage's Renfield was released

15 in total for now. I try to go on festivals, special events and when films I would ordinarily have a hard time finding online are playing. On occasion I will also catch one of the bigger shows, but usually only if I am going with a larger group.

That's one of the best reasons to watch a movie at home. I'll add being able to control the volume so that my ear drums don't rupture

How was Caligula?

You saw this in theaters? Lucky! I think this popped up very briefly and vanished in my area.

It was good - or at least, I enjoyed it. I wrote about it here. A completely different film to the one we've had since 1979, and a marked improvement - edited together with the original screenplay as a template, it actually makes more narrative sense and you can see it's themes much more clearly. It's not the greatest epic ever made, but it feels much more complete and sensible.
