Recast an Iconic Role

The People's Republic of Clogher
A tough, mature, ballsy woman who's charismatic, in great shape and can act?

Tough one. My initial thought was Joan Allen but I can't really imagine her kicking arse; same goes for Emma Thompson (too English).

Hilary Swank?

Of your choices I'd go for Rosario (in more ways than one...) but, yeah, she'd need a few years.

Hilary is the only one I can even remotely imagine in the role of Ripley....

Great choice of Swank to play Ripley. Definitely the best choice I can think of.

If I had to pick someone else, and assuming a change in race isn't a problem, I'd seriously consider Angela Basset. She effortlessly conveys that tough-as-nails vibe.

And I'm still mad as hell she wasn't Storm in the X-Men movies.

28 days...6 hours...42 minutes...12 seconds
I'd change my choice from Foster to Thurman, I think she can take the challenge.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
How about the iconic Scottie (James Stewart) in Vertigo?

A few years back, I would have said Tim Roth, for sure. Now, I'm thinking about the ubiquotous Philip Seymour Hoffman. I think they would both be excellent though.

I am half agony, half hope.
Ripley: Linda Hamilton

John McLane: James Woods or Ron Perlman

Scottie: maybe William H. Macy

It's gotta be Hollywood's resident Rent-An-Antihero, Christian Bale, innit?

If the Welsh Wizard's off playing another obsessive type then maybe Ed Norton.

Ripley: Summer Glau

John McClane: Ryan Reynolds

Scottie: Sean Connery's brother. Yeah. I said it. He's a little shorter and fatter nd he's perfect. And we all know it.
Or Terry O'Quinn. But fatter.

Sidebar:Have you ever listened to Scotty say "she canna take anymore Cap'n" and thought "That dude is totally makin a sexy play on words. A porno on words.

Rachel - Sean Young in Blade Runner. I'd give it to anyone else instead. To me she's the weak link in that film.

He's called Tequila. He's a tough cop.
Oh god, I think it's hard to replace Daniel Day Lewis in any role he plays, he MAKES the role. I recently saw A Room With a Window, absolutely hilarious, if you've only seen DDL in insane roles (like me) see this movie just for his semi-small part.

But back to the point, ummmm... Jesus this is hard... how about a younger Al Pacino, he seems to always have an angry tinge in his voice and can randomly explode like Daniel Plainview did in There Will Be Blood. I don't know, that's the best i can think of .

Stuck in the middle with you.
i think josh Brolin could do a good John McClane if he tried.
And here's one I would like to see answers to:
recast Vito Corleone.

I actually like Pacino or Caan(I know they were in the Godfather)
Disagree all you want but I think Kevin Costner or Harvey Keitel could make a good Vito, possibly Joe pesci.

I know this role is still fresh, but I am interested in seeing your comments.....

Daniel Day Lewis is perfect in this role. If I couldn't get him though, I'd have Malkovich read for it. He might be able to make a go of it.
