Well, since this genre is so massive and filled with great films, I picked the 12 that I liked the most, starting with Reservoir Dogs. Feel free to post your own favorite if it's not present, but also vote for your favorite that's on the list.

A system of cells interlinked
What aspects does a film need to have to qualify as a crime film? Would Chinatown qualify?

If so...Chinatown!

Casino simply because I love that environment haha

Crime movie is a very very wide genre. And vague as well. The wolf of wall street might as well qualify, coz what Jordan Belfort did was a crime. At least from the list i would say LA Confidential.

Good taste (for a change) here.

Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas are a tie for me. I picked Pulp Fiction though.

Out of that list it's Heat for me. I had a great experience watching the whole film for the first time last year. What's interesting is that I wouldn't call this my favourite genre but Heat is so rich with the plots and subplots, so well-researched and presented, that it achieves the effect of taking you into another world.

Another excellent crime film is Classe Tous Risques from 1960. Like Heat it deals a lot with the consequences and repercussions of crime.

I think it's incredible how Al Pacino manages to make Michael's eyes look so devoid of any spark.

Ray Winstone said that when he went to see Reg Kray in prison — preparation for an abortive Legend-style Krays film — Kray's eyes appeared to look through him and into the wall behind.

Out of those its an easy pick for The Godfather. M is obviously the true greatest crime film though

M is very good, especially Peter Lorre.

This.

This.

This.

This.

And this.
These are all great crime films but they kind of transcend genres so I decided to omit them in favor of more "pure" crime films.

Crime and Detective Movies[/url] are a very very wide genre and vague as well. These films are often based on or are adaptations of plays or novels. I suggest HEAT among the list.

Everyone is my friend unless proven otherwise
I picked HEAT among the list
and I like The Silence of the Lambs too.
