Elvis

Hard Eight (1996)
Yonkers Joe (2008)

I enjoyed both

Two seperate scenes take place in Las Vegas. The second scene shows old Vegas downtown as it was in the 1960s with an arial view.

  • The Pick-Up Artist (1987)

I'm more interested in what these films collectively say about Vegas. How is Vegas mythologized and how does that mythology co-construct our view of the place in our world (e.g., the tourist bureau leaning into the seedier side of it with the "stays in Vegas" campaign)?

I found these entries on Frank Sinatra's IMDb profile, two movies not mentioned in any article about Las Vegas movies. These ones were easy to find because Las Vegas is in the movie title, but I am sure there must be more less obvious movies from the 1940s-1970s that take place in Las Vegas.

Meet Me in Las Vegas (1956)
Las Vegas Nights (1941)

Rain Man?

Now You See Me?

The original Ocean's Eleven?

I'd have to put Casino (1995) in the top 3 of Vegas movies. De Niro, Pesci, Sharon Stone, James Woods, Don Rickles, Scorsese directing-- that's hard to beat.

Casino
Leaving Las Vegas
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The Godfather, Part II
Con Air
Elvis
Tomcats
It appears that Elvis (2022) was filmed in Australia with production stages built to imitate Graceland, which is found in Tennessee. A biopic about his life, I wouldn't consider this a full-on Las Vegas movie, even if it has a few scenes in the story set there.

Hard Eight (1996)
Yonkers Joe (2008)

I enjoyed both
Hard Eight (1996) is a Reno movie. I will check this out.
IMDb says that Yonkers Joe (2008) is an independent film made in Las Vegas but has great reviews although there's under 1000 ratings. I will check this out too, thanks.

If that is you're line then a lot of those movies would've qualify if only part of the story is set in Vegas, but when it comes to Elvis, considering a lot of the latter part is based there as well as a lot of the Col Tom Parker (Tom Hanks) scenes and his narrative based from there.

You could say the same thing about The Godfather Part II, Con Air or Tomcats also.

But theres plenty of Elvis n Hanks in Vegas in there, okay. I didnt see it myself because of many reasons. Bubba HoTep is good enough for me. Still waiting to see the Kurt Russell version. For some reason I though Nicolas Cage played Elvis but I guess my wires were backwards.
