Military Service

im a military brat. alot of people have been in the air force or the army. my grandpa was in the military and my mom was too. she came in was i think 18 she retired in 03 but she still does the same thing she did in the air force the only difference now is that she is a civilian. we have been to many places i lived in japan for four yrs and turkey for two yrs. my brother is in the military too.

thread bump: only because i wanna talk out loud about my current position

essentially, i am in a location with little to no advancement potential without further education, and i don't want to work into my 60s like my dad. so i am seriously considering joining the Navy.

obviously, being trans, i've got my concerns/fears, but from what i've read from trans service members it's not as terrible as i'd imagine.

anyways, my gramps was in the Air Force and dad was in the Navy, so it's always sat in the back of my mind

and for the record, the plan would be to join as an officer or not at all. no way am i going enlisted.

@John McClane Your profile says you are 35 which is a bit long in the tooth to join the military, but not impossible. Commissioning programs vary, but generally I think you have to be no older than 37 at the time you are commissioned (meaning after you complete officer's candidate school), and have a bachelor's degree.

Well your username tells me you are born for that kind of thing. Just remember no boots only bare feet.

But seriously though, I can’t give any advice on military stuff… I never considered anything like that myself. I camouflage by staying at home, out of sight and out of trouble and the only thing I salute is the bartender who pulls off a perfectly balanced Long Island iced tea whenever I order one. But that’s how far it goes for me.

The only thing I shoot with is a camera when I’m working and the only cover I take is a rain cover when it pours outside. Cause I’m a bitch who doesn’t wanna get wet. So yeah, no hope for me in protecting anything but my ice cream during the summer when bugs trying to get a bite. Sometimes they scare me so I run away. And drop my ice cream. F***. Here’s an F bomb. That’s as dangerous as it gets.

the more i consider things the more i like the idea of just enlisting in the Coast Guard. sure, they’ll bust my balls for being old but aren’t they gonna do that anyway? lol
