Sinister 2 (2015) - Ciaran Foy

- I'm so mad over this movie... I first saw it when it comes out in theater and I don't remember it was so bad... wow man what a pointless sequel. only two or three Bughuul appearance and some idiot characters destroy the entire movie. The only character I like is James Ransone in spite of him the movie is a total mess. Without Scott Derrickson and Ethan Hawke at the lead role I knew that the movie where going to be less good than the first one but certainly not in that way. Even the ending is total bullsh*t DUDE I'M MAD AS HELL. Mr.Derrickson if you have the idea to make a sequel for your movie please directed it... because this was crap. So unbelievably stupid.

Finished here. It's been fun.

King of New York

One of best films to come out during the 90's. Ferrara paints a dark picture, a world in a perpetual state of decay. The line between "good" and "bad" becomes blurred. There are no heroes or good-guys; just men who do what they believe is right.

One of the most haunting endings I've ever seen.

Mouth to Mouth (2005)

Ellen Page plays a high school girl who gets in with a group of young homeless people with various issues. I thought this movie was going in the direction of something like Kids, or another Larry Clarke type of film. It gets a little weirder than that, as the group turns out to be cult-like. It's a low budget, independent film, which I like, but it never really drew me in. It felt to me like a rough after school special. Not a bad recommendation to me by Zotis, as it is on the track to my kind of movie. It just didn't quite work out, although it was decent enough for me to consider it a worthwhile viewing.

Terminator Genisys

Overall, really disappointing.

Ok, let's get something straight here: by the end of watching the spoiling trailers and reading the sucky reviews, I wasn't even gonna watch this movie to appreciate it. All I liked from what they showed in the trailers was the visuals. Not the CGI (which is overly used in this movie), but more like the cinematography and the colors...y'all know, the looks of this film. I wanted to watch it only for ENTERTAINMENT.

Turns out it's just another sh*tty movie that, when you think about it...actually not even when you think about it, doesn't make any sense at all since its overused time-travelling plot ends up making no sense.

Let's talk about the movie itself now...phew. First of all, like mentioned, the plot ends up leading to nothing since it goes from "let's send Kyle Reese back in time to protect my mom" to "Oh! The mom knows everything (and more) already! Let's forget about the other thing then and let's expose her by attacking the entire system on 3 against 1 that's almost indestructible". There's even this scene where father, mother and son (with almost all the same age) are at the same time...I mean...What The F*ck?!? There are a few appreciable scenes with practical effects, but they are ruined almost immediately by the next scene which is almost only CGI. Some CGI was still pretty good looking, but some was just too evident and other takes were just FUGLY!!!

The acting is not that bad, especially, and surprisingly, by Arnie. What I still don't understand, is that Universal spoiled the whole underground scene where it is revealed that John Connor is in fact a terminator...or a machine...anyway, and still they tried to make us think he was really THE John Connor by making parts of the scene emotional...or at least they tried.

To wrap this up, by far the best scenes are 1. The bridge chase scene and 2. When Emilia Clarke has to get naked to travel in time...I mean they show nothing...but still it was better than the movie. This is definitely one of the worst movies I've seen this year, so I give it a

Tintin et le temple su Soleil (1969) (aka, Tintin and the temple of the Sun)

Overall, even the classics aren't as good as one would normally think.

All that's good in this movie are the animation and the voice-overs. That's it.

Everybody here must know who Tintin is and they should know that it's a literature classic. The 2011 movie was, for me, fantastic since they got to blend a whole lot of elements from the different books, I'm talking about the story the same as the elements used, and still managing to stay true to the original content.

In this movie, the storyline is changed drastically and in a very sh*tty way. There are important elements that just got wiped out and some sucky elements added here and there. Somehow, at the end,
WARNING: "spoilers" spoilers below
Zorrino gets his life pleaded for mercy by the princess who magically knows him not having shown any connection so far before.

The music kills the ambient and...so much story has been removed that one would hardly believe it's BASED on the book. There are a lot of flaws in this film, so I give it a

That's an example of twist for twist's sake. It only created more confusion and removed any emotional investment from the audience. An example of how not to make a twist.

Attack on Titan: End of the World (2015)

Not only this time the story was weaker but at least expected a hell lot of Titan-actions but didn't get much. Quite disappointing sequel.

Bølgen aka The Wave (2015)

Norwegian Tsunami-peril disaster flick, from the director of 2006 Slasher hit Fritt Vilt aka Cold Prey. Decently done. But the best thing about the movie was its location...Geiranger...a beautiful small tourist village of Norway; I wish I could make a visit there someday.

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007)

+

This documentary is about the competitive playing of the original arcade games, specifically Donkey Kong, and also player's attempts to break the world record for highest score. The last time I played a video game was about 15 years ago when I played Ms. PAC-Man against a stripper for a drink at a gentlemen's club in Toronto. I haven't owned a video game console since the original Atari system, but there was a time when I used to play these old games at Greyhound bus stations all over America. Donkey Kong was my second favorite game, and I was very competitive when I played. Having at least some history with these games may have helped with my interest at the outset of this movie, but I think anybody would have a good time watching it. It's a fast paced, compact movie that quickly focuses on the rivalry between two players, one who becomes the rooting interest, and one who is painted as the villain. There's even a little controversy involved with a couple of the games. In the big picture, this is not important subject matter for a documentary, but it is a lot of fun to watch. Nice recommendation from HK and Iro.

Pasolini was a great director, his career was very varied. I suppose you'll like Accatone and maybe The Hawks And The Sparrows.

I'm still not sure about this..It has the Del Toro colourful fairytale feel and that's about it - more good looks than substance. It seemed to take an age to get going and was completely preditable, but it ended quite well. Not Del Toro's best by any stretch of the imagination, but a passable attempt.

You're generous with your rating. Easily one of the worse horror sequels in recent memory.

You should check out Manic (2001) if you haven't before. It might be right up your alley.

I'm going to watch Accatone and maybe The Hawks And The Sparrows later today, or tomorrow at the latest..

It's too bad Pasolini was murdered only 13 yrs after making his first film.

OK, just watched The Martian. I was really stoked about seeing it and wasn't disappointed. Amazing film. This could very well make my list of top ten movies of 2015.

Probably one of my 10 favorite film noirs.

In a Lonely Place (1950)

Like just about every noir I've seen, I can't say I was completely engrossed in this, although I didn't feel like it was a hardcore noir. It was still an outstanding watch with a good story. Bogart was just awesome playing a character who almost nobody would like in real life.
