My favorite is in a theater, hopefully one with well-behaved patrons. In that regard, we have a couple "art-houses" in town where the movie goers are good enough that I end up seeing a lot more indie and foreign films than I might just because the literate crowd, urbane environment and outdoor dining make the evening better than a mall cineplex that's overstocked with noisy people that need to check their texts every 50 seconds or so.
Next would be our downtown cineplex that happens to be in the basement level of a waterfront high-rise that has enough depth and structural steel to block cell phone signals. It helps the crowd focus on the movie.
After that, it's the mall, hopefully a loud enough blockbuster to drown out the crowd noise.
After that, it's the home theater in my basement man-cave with a blue ray disk - better sound than the theater, but I enjoy some sort of group experience.
I'll stream for convenience, but that's the worst viewing method.
