Is the 3-D experience worthwhile at home?

I haven't seen a 3-D flick (in 3-D) in a long time. I think the last time was an IMAX movie about dinosaurs. Are 3-D movies on DVD okay to see at home? Do they have to be DVD-HD or BLURAY? Do they require polarized glasses or the red/blue glasses? As you can see, I'm pretty ignorant about this technology.

I have seen quite afew 3D movies on DVD at home and tbh I really wasnt impressed.

I don't think the polarized glasses work on a homescreen.... that's why if you manage to pick up the polarized 3D goggles, one is unable to read those 3D comics or watch the 3D movies on DVD/VHS..

If you've seen any of the Robert Rodriguez 3D movies & manage to keep those Goggles, then you can try some videos on Youtube...

I've not seen anything in modern 3D, but I wouldn't think it'll work well at home, even with the biggest screens. As I've said many times, I only think 3D works for horror or weird films, if any. Still, Sky starts it's 3DTV next month and I think my subscription will be going up next year to pay for a service that no one wants.

I don't like paying extra for the 3D experience at the cinema why the hell would I want to spend extra money for it at home to?

If you like 3D movies then if you can afford it then of course you should.

I have a 3D tv and its superb, any movie thats 3D compatible ill watch in 3D, its not only great viewing but its also good to see the reaction of guests even who have never experienced it before.

i personally would recommend it.

We got a new Samsung 46" 3D Smart TV recently + a 3D Blu Ray HCS, so still fairly new to it all, but I really love what I've seen so far which includes the 3D Apps on the Smart Hub & The Hobbit on Blu Ray, also Sky 3D channel is really good, impressed with all aspects of 3D, well worth the upgrade.
