Teenaged Girl Gets Pregnant

Several winters ago, saw bits and pieces of this coming-of-age/family-dissonance/whatever film.
Best guess at release date is 90's-ish (possibly 80's or early 2000's).
A low-budget, English-speaking, possibly Canadian, film, the main girl looks like a teenage doppelganger of Sarah Polley.

As far as characters and plot-threads, I remember very little.
The main girl gets pregnant after her first time having sex, with her 20-something loser boyfriend, with the sex being unpleasant and a somewhat painful to boot.
While the main plotline deals with her deciding on an abortion and/or running away from home, her unemployed father's character also gets some growth as he struggles with alcoholism, gets a job cleaning/bouncing in the local bar, and makes his way towards once again being a funcitoning member of society.
An early scene after he gets work is where some local youngsters don't take him seriously (he has a reputation as a drunk) and break a bottle or glass of beer over his head; When he gets home his wife smells the beer and assumes he's been hitting the bottle again.
Can't remember if anything major happens to the girl's mother, or if the girl has any siblings.
Final shot (or at least near the end) is the girl holding her newly born child in the hospital, with mother and father at her side.

Unfortunately not For Keeps; The main character is probably a blonde or possibly a light brunette and more average looking.
Film was made earlier (and lower budget) than Juno.
Thanks for the tries!

Could be ''Nights Below Station Street (1997)''.

It was a CBC/Lifetime production. Not much info available on the movie, lots on the book though
