'79 had a lot of great films but I'd go with the Muppet Movie for my number 1.

Great year.
Coppola made The Conversation and The Godfather Part II, Herzog made The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser and The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner and Brooks made Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. Actually I don't really rate Young Frankenstein all that highly, I just mentioned it because it's remarkable that several directors made more than one classic that year. On the other hand, I love Blazing Saddles more than any of the other aforementioned, but (and despite the fact that I really want to put Foxy Brown simply because it's possibly my favorite poster) I am going to give the top slot to...
