Nice answers. Follow-ups!

Born and raised, so to speak.
How do you like it?

Double major in Physics and Philosophy.
I like the symmetry; the study of physical things, and the study of thought.

After meeting my communist friend at the beginning of High School. Slowly but surely. After four years.
My guess was a high school teacher, but this works, too. My old man was a Marxist in high school for roughly the same reason.

Definitely. I'll probably go the route of Sedai if I'm lucky.
Is this facetious, or do you actually, actively expect your worldview to change significantly? If so, doesn't that make it difficult to believe what you currently do? Isn't there a degree to which you can hurry along the process? Or is it something altogether different than that?

The fact that from the end of WWII onward, it was chiefly responsible for creating probably the largest number of the happiest people ever at any one particular time in human history. It carried most of us comfortably through modernity. But not exactly without sacrifice. Postmodernity is where it fails even for us, I claim.
Interesting. So this isn't so much "Capitalism has failed us" as "Capitalism will fail us now that such-and-such is different"?

The phrasing intrigues me, though; "carried most of us comfortably through modernity." This makes it sound as if modernity (and the many comforts that come with it) is something that just happened, rather than something caused by it.

Sorry if this isn't creative enough, but it forces all art forms to cater towards the lowest common denominator if they want to be successful. It is basically impossible to avoid this phenomenon in a capitalist society.
It's a good answer; by creative, I just meant I was hoping for something more interesting than the usual reasons given.

Born and raised on those cookies, you could say.
One day, then, we shall go, and you shall have one of those cookies, and it shall remind you of your childhood, and you will cry. And then you'll ask for another cookie, and all will be well.

I'll probably have the All-American Scrambler. Far less emotional.

and so I raise my glass to symmetry / to the second hand and it's accuracy / to the actual size of everything / the desert is the sand
...you can't hold it in your hands / it won't bow to your demands / there's no difference you can make

You just quoted my favorite line from one of my favorite songs.

Interesting. So, is it because of this phone in particular, or do you just really like flip phones and hate to see so few of them now? You're resisting the touch screen craze? If so, how long do you think you can hold out? I know you said "FOREVER," but realistically, the new ones are going to be too much to ignore for more than another year or two, yeah?

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Who among major philosophers do you most strongly identify with?
Kierkegaard, Popper, Sartre, Camus, Freud, Lacan, Marx, Descartes.
