Toy Story 5

Tom Hanks announced today on social media he’s begun recording his lines for Toy Story 5.

The movie is currently scheduled for a 2026 release.

Did they intend to finish the stories with Toy Story 3?

Hollowwood needs new writers.

Toys never die, apparently

I totally get why they’re doing it—nostalgia prints money—but I do miss when these sequels felt like they had a real emotional arc to complete. Toy Story 2 and 3 meant a lot to me, especially since 3 felt like the perfect ending. 4 didn’t really land for me, and honestly, I haven’t connected with Pixar’s newer stuff in a while. So I’ll probably sit this one out and just let the trilogy live on as the great sendoff it was.
