The last trailer has helped overcome my MBJ disdain and scour IMAX showings in the Tar Heel state.

I have watched this twice now (in 70mm IMAX) and have come away with mixed feelings about the movie itself, although I would still obviously recommend that you watch it if you get a chance. Especially if you can watch this in IMAX.

There are some obvious spoilers around this one, and one of the trailers may have given a bit too much away, so I would recommend you try to know as little as possible about the movie's subject matter before watching it.

I picked this in the end so seeing it in 2 hours.

Oh my god. This film gave me an eargasm, to quote Mr Andre Young. So ****ing good! Only Lovers Left Alive (which I love) but with perfect music throughout.

It’s very uneven and bizarre and doesn’t really fit any immediate genre (to me, anyway, and that certain plot element isn’t in itself a genre). But wow! How cool. I can understand the mixed feelings, but as someone incredibly disdainful of musicals, hat off to this one. That opening-night centrepiece number is absolutely mind-blowing, one of the best and most unique scenes I’ve seen in a very long time. A very sexy film, too (though ).

Holy hell, please give the guy who made this a Marvel-size budget to play with.

Excellent. My faith in humanity is restored for now. Marvel is one of those things I generally can’t do, so I wouldn’t know. But he deserves the biggest budget out there with no strings attached (and from what I’m reading about that crazy rights reversal deal he made, he’s the one attaching the strings, if anything… Good for him).

i be seeing it next week cause i was gonna go 2 days ago but changed my mind to see it when school holidays is over next week when its quiet

My main reason for listening to pods is entertainment. Not the cable news effect, which I avoid. This usually means I skip out on Maron’s sermons. This was a nice change of pace, never been interested in a Coogler movie until this one.

Can you watch it in IMAX?
