Sinatra 1992

I had the pleasure of watching this 1992 miniseries, originally broadcast on CBS in 1992 for the first time and found it thoroughly entertaining. The miniseries begins with Sinatra's humble childhood in Hoboken and pretty much covers everything up to his associations with the Kennedy brothers and mob boss Sam Giancona. The film features lavish production values and a terrific cast headed by Philip Casnoff in the title role (his singing is effectively dubbed by Tom Burlinson), who in certain shots, bears an uncanny resemblance to a young ol' blue eyes. There is also standout work from Olympia Dukakis as Sinatra's mother, Marcia Gay Harden as Ava Gardner, Bob Gunton as Tommy Dorsey, David Raynr as Sammy Davis Jr, Gina Gershon as Nancy Barbado Sinatra, and Rod Steiger as Giancona. It's a bit of a time commitment but well worth the time.
