Extra linebreak bug

This has been a constant problem for me when posting and I usually have to go back and edit my posts because of it.

Every time I make a post, a normal linebreak will convert into two or three linebreaks after posting. Makes everything look very ugly. For reference I will post an image of how this looks in the text editor and you can see for yourselves the final product.

I am using Firefox and can provide more info if needed. I remember discussing this in the past and noticing other members experiencing it too but nothing ever came of it.

This is a big problem with WYSIWYG editors in general, which were all the rage for awhile but had to be gradually phased out (or, in some circumstances, heavily reworked) to get around browsers implementing more and more security measures to guard against various exploits. That had the effect of messing with a lot of JavaScript stuff.

The simple fix is to go to your Edit Options page (via User CP in the header) and switch editor option (very last option on the page). There are three settings: no editor, just a plain text box. The full editor, which you're using now (but which isn't even able on Chromium browsers because of the security stuff), or the "Standard Editor," which should give you a lot of the same options, but it'll just show you the bbCode it inserts rather than, say, bold the text live the way it would in MS Word or whatever.

Switching to that should take care of your problem, I think. @Citizen Rules had a similar issue I believe, tagging him just in case I'm misremembering what he ended up doing.

I ended up taking your advice and to make a linebreak I do shift+enter on the keyboard.

Though I don't always remember to do that, so when I forget, just I edit my post.

The shift+enter is a workaround but a bit of an annoying one to keep in mind all the time. I tried your standard editor suggestion.

I hope this message will be displayed properly.

Nope it didn't display properly unless you wanted that big of a space between your paragraphs.

Just hit Preview Post and correct after composing, that's what I do mostly.
