Your top 20 films of 2023

Another brilliant year for film. My top 20 would look something like this:

Honoruable mentions to films like 'Pamfir', 'Falcon Lake', 'The Holdovers', 'Return to Seoul', 'The Blue Caftan', 'Afire'.

It's a shame that films like 'The Zone of Interest', 'Poor Things' and 'All of Us Strangers' aren't released where I am yet as they'd likely be in contention. And in years to come they'll be known as 2023 films, but they'll have to be in my 2024 list. Similarly some of those films above were made in 2022, but if it's only physically possible to see them in 2023, then they are going on my 2023 list!

What's on your list?

My top 20:

1. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.
2. The Little Mermaid
3. Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields
4. Oppenheimer
5. The Killer
6. Knock at the Cabin
7. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
8. May December
9. M3GAN
10. The Holdovers
11. Maestro

16. Asteroid City
17. Killers of the Flower Moon
18. No Hard Feelings
19. Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie
20. Stamped from the Beginning

Honourable mentions: American Symphony, Scream VI, and Infinity Pool.

That's some bad hat, Harry.

I plan on watching Saltburn in the next couple of days. Still need to see the latest Scorsese picture, also.

I forgot the opening line.
Ahh - Okay, for me I picked only movies that have official 2023 release dates. There were some terrific 2022 films I saw in 2023 which were released in Australia later than elsewhere, but I just felt like keeping these films compartmentalized. Please note - as the years go by a lot of really great smaller films get seen by me, and will worm their way in over time.

MY TOP 2023 FILMS

1 - Past Lives
2 - Saltburn
3 - Killers of the Flower Moon
4 - Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
5 - Oppenheimer
6 - Blackberry
7 - Asteroid City
8 - The Zone of Interest

What's on your list?
Past Lives, May December, and Dream Scenario I can agree with. The rest are all "hyperbole".

The Holdovers doesn't get an honorable mention. It takes the Top honors.
