I think they call the music in a film the "score" right ? I like movies that use a bit of blues, jazz or drums or anything but the classical violin/harp. I do not really know how to search for movies like this. I have tried but when I use VIOLIN and Movie together in a search I come up with movies about violin players.
Really I am after older black and white movies that were non conforming to the style of having the violins and harp in the background. I remember being captivated by this movie that was around a 1960 mystery show that had some drums going on a bit like what miles Davis would play. I was fully entertained by the movie "The wild ride" with Jack Nicholson.

Citizen Rules: Thanks for the tip, I was shocked to see Milner !

I don't think you will find older B&W movies featuring the blues, as it didn't have mainstream appreciation until the mid-1960s. Jazz is an entirely different matter; try Googling:

classic jazz movie scores

Miles Davis was himself responsible for the score for the 1958 French movie Ascenseur pour l'échafaud (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elevator_to_the_Gallows). An excerpt can be found at

The movie "PARENTS" The score in that made the show, and the cool Architecture in that movie. And in the Movie 2001 a space Odyssey the scene where - 'The Blue Danube' (waltz) scene I rented that movie simply because I wanted to watch that scene over again. They cut that scene short for some releases of that 2001 show. It was hard to find it. For me that was the best part of the movie. Apparently not for others. A great score in a movie will help those who have a hard time escaping do so. It helps to distract from all the worries of the world. I love a movie that has scenes with a great score where they let you have some time to be captivated by the whole thing, let things soak it. The score makes all the difference.
