Have you seen "Ana-ta-han"? I think its still on YouTube. I've only given about 40 movies a 10/10, and that was one. Very unique movie.

Scooby Doo on Zombie Island (1998) - 5.5/10. One of the better Scooby Doo movies out there. Better animation. Daphne really got a character makeover this time, which was good see.

The Host (2006) - 6.5/10. I was putting this off for a while assuming that it will be scary. And I desperately wanted to watch something in B&W movie, coz its been a while! But couldn't make up my mind on what to watch. So gave this a go anyway. It was a fun. Definitely not one of Ho's best work. But still pretty good. The CGI hasn't aged well. But that's no deal-breaker. The movie leans towards a family trying to survive rather than the monster being the main focus. Good stuff. I did notice some strong anti-American flavours in the movie! Or at least some strong notes of American military being conniving folks. I don't know if it's intentional or just how the plot is.

Martyrs (2008) - 6/10. Kinda weird rating this one. From what I heard in the reviews I expected a lot more blood and a lot more dead bodies. It's quite a different kind of a movie. But to be honest, I still don't get the objective of keeping the women as prisoners. Seemed kind of a flimsy plot thread to hang a movie on. Who knows! Anything else and I would go into spoiler territory, so I should stop.
Oh, yeah I meant some of the Marvel movies, not just the ones you mentioned.
I did think she looked better with her hair down.
I'm still not going to watch Thor: Ragnarok.
I don't think the problem with Marvel movies is they take themselves too seriously. I think they just have the same problem that most Hollywood Blockbusters have, or any overly commercialised product. They're designed to reach as wide a market as possible because their primary purpose is to make money. Some talented artists may work on them, but their work gets interfered with by the industry.

Why? (Proč?)..(1987)
I saw this years ago and was lucky enough to find it again. A look into the behavior of football hooligans in Czechoslovakia and the nihilistic traits therefore. It's shot well and makes its point. Its aim of depicting sport as a totem pole for the disenfranchised is well done. Would not class this as a "shocker". Anyone who has been caught on a train with "ultras" will know the feeling...dread.

BlackkKlansman (2018) 8/10
Surface level social commentary within what I felt to be a well-directed and entertaining crime thriller.

Extraction (2020)
After mostly positive impressions here and elsewhere, I probably had my expectations set too high. Technically it's great and action is decently brutal. Sadly the story (and characters) are ripped from countless far-eastern actions and Extraction offers nothing new except better production values. I also hated the fight scene with the streek kids (I let people guess why). Still, it's somewhat OK action but I really wish that the technical talent would have been put to better use.

Shooting Heroin (2019)
Low budget take on of a community fighting against a drugs problem that has claimed and continues to claim the lives of those nearest in the town.
A few faces recognisable here Sherilyn Fenn, Cathy Moriarty, Nicholas Turturro. The story is well told and as a microcosm of a larger programme works well. Some of the acting dips and wouldn't look out of place in a latter "Death Wish" film. It all hung together OK though.

Killer Legends (2014) - 5/10. Nothing exceptional. Felt more a like a Discovery Channel show. Didn't have anything new in it. Or some big revelations. Worth a watch if you can't find anything else to see and looking for something real.

This is one of the most violent and relentlessly grim westerns I've seen. Typical revenge story and it seems to stand still at times but it's effective. It looks great and occasionally feels like a horror movie. The lead character had zero charisma but it works. Only real complaint is the ridiculous pop songs that suddenly play with about 20 minutes left and then again during the end credits.
