I don't know what's funnier, that this comment looks like it could have been written today or that this user doesn't seem to realise that was already true of the OT.

Star Wars didn't die then and it won't die now. It's become part of our culture. It may die down for a while after the last film in the new trilogy (Star Wars IX, I think.). But if it does, it will be back some time in the future.

As for the most exciting sequels, I think Superman 2 and Spider-Man 2 (from the Raimi trilogy) managed to outdo the originals in action.

I daresay the Disney machine and its array of planned spin-offs won't let the brand go dormant like it usually does between trilogies, but yeah, you can tell that post was written by some Tim-from-Spaced type who was overly bitter about Phantom Menace.
