You seen the other movies in the franchise or at least all or some of the last 3? Then you know what to expect.

As a long time follower and fan of this franchise it worked great. Don't know how it will be if you haven't followed anything. It does kind of hold itself in past films but can still be enjoyed going in blind. Personally I would recommend watching the last 3-4 movies though at least but that's just me. You could still have a good time though.
I think I've seen them all. The only one I didnt like was the japanese one but I cant remember why.

Then it should be a no brainer then. off to the theatre with you!

And yeah a lot of people don't like the third one so no worries there !

I have nothing against the Fast series because I only saw the first one as a kid but godd*mn it was one of the most boring films I've ever seen. Cars are so f*cking boring.

Then you should like it more and more as the franchise progresses.

The trailer looks like good old fashioned fun. I'm in and will let you know. I like movies that make me air punch walking out of the cinema.

IT WAS SO BORING IT TRAUMATIZED ME!

I hope you only saw the first trailer.

Because I've been avoided all clips and trailers except the very first and I'm glad I did. It spoils pretty much every single important scene - start to finish. So annoying... Glad I avoided that.

More boring than the remake of Point Break? Jaysus christi that was nothing but a long red bull/extreme sport trailer, and I love extreme sport.

Never seen that. I'm not a big fan of action movies like these ones, so I probably wouldn't like that, either.

Yeah if you're not a fan of 'leave your brain at the door, kick your heels up and have some stupid popcorn fun' you wont like that. Nice looking film but holy hell, I want my money back.

F&F though, I really like. I just find them really entertaining, loud and brash, and I need that after the last few movies as I said above. I just want to watch something with lots of baysplosions, good looking actors, and crazy nonsense stunts.

I think where a lot of people get that rush from action like the car action in the Fast series, I get from gore in horror flicks. Like I think I kinda wonder if I get a similar rush watching the Hostel movies that MM gets from the Fast series. It's probably because I was raised on horror. I get the charm of these cheesy action movies like that but they've always bored me unless I'm really invested in the characters or it's really well-made or something.

Yeah I can relate to the rush you get from Horror genre. For me it's a different type of rush but still, the adrenalaline is there. Silly in your face action movies for me are Woop Woop, whereas horror is screaming at the tv to kill the bad guy or brainless big bewbied girl (not that big boobs have anything to do with brains or lack thereof, but I get really tired of female characters in slash films written as morons who just have to run straight back into the house. DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Yeah, I grew up with the Fasf series, that's one thing. I watched the first two on repeat on DVD and then watched all the movies since 3 at the cinemas... So they are kind of nostalgic or at least I have come to really love these characters and enjoy spending time with them and watch them grow and expand etc. Next to that I somehow have a weak spot for inventive action - so when it's creative or at least well done I can usually trash a good dose of logic. So yeah. And the practical work in the Fast movies are what also still makes me love these films. It's not lazy CGI left and right. The movie has cars dropping from a plane... well then the team behind will drop actual cars from a plane... and all this oraciak work DOES show in the final product. There is a love and craft here. I appreciate that too.

Speaking of Hostel...

Hostel -
+
(Eli Roth, 2005)

My best friend is a fellow horror fan and a fellow crazy person. But he has it a little worse than me, and due to bad experiences with extreme horror is very cautious about movies like this. We had to turn Cannibal Holocaust off fairly early in the movie, because he couldn't handle it (which I totally understand - it's not for everyone). Anyway, he says I've helped him overcome a lot of his fear with certain horror movies, but personally I think I can be a little pushy some times. Alas, for my coming b-day he said he wanted to watch the first two Hostel flicks with me, since I'm a fan. So we and a few others sat and watched the first last night. I think it was kind of intense for him while watching, but he made it through and I think that's awesome.

Personally, some things I was particularly impressed by this time around: the score and how well-crafted the torture scenes are. I still prefer the second one - a lot of that has to do with my preference for the girls in the second one to the guys in the first one who act like twats. I feel like if I liked the characters in the first a little more, I would give the film overall a better rating. Because I really do think it's a great horror film that shows Roth's talent as a filmmaker.

And Vinny has a great voice.

The action is surprisingly not as over the top ridiculous as earlier.
Rock repels a missile with one arm.
Roman is saved from drowning by hanging on a car door.
Etc...
Lol.
In my opinion this movie doesn't have much of scenes like the Dom and Letty catch from 6 or the skyscraper car jump from 7.
It's better than 6, but worse than 7. 7 was masterpiece.

This movie was probably better than 7 imo. But I think 7 suffered quite a bit from the fact that they had to work around Paul Walker's death.

Everybody be talking about that missile scene. I somehow imagined it to be The Rock elbowing the missile mid-air and making it change direction. I guess I was surprised it was "merely" a simple push on a missle already in the ground - a ground of super slippery ice that is, so the push-over wasn't really something that I thought was completely out of proportion... the Roman scene was a little far out in the way that holding on to that thing would be pretty implausable. But it wasn't too bad. I went with it.
