Independence Day Resurgence

Not recently, it hasn't been. Like I said, his post-I Am Legend films have been largely unsuccessful and forgettable compared to the huge popularity of films like Bad Boys, Men in Black, and Independence Day
I stated this mostly. As for his career lately it's doing just fine if I might say. Anyone who gets a GG nom and makes a film that is as superb as Concussion, is doing great.

This looks like a sweet flick. We always see alien invasions but it will be cool to see the aftermath of one for a change. Especially for a film that's nearly 20 years old, was popular in it's time and has had a chance to take it's time before pushing out a sequel.

Reminds me kinda of Robotech. Which is a good thing.

In the Beginning...
From Maxim:

Will Smith wishes he was in Independence Day: Resurgence

When the first action-packed trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence debuted in early December, we were pleasantly surprised to see Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, and Jeff Goldblum back for another round of alien invasions. What came as a bummer was the lack of Will Smith's presence anywhere in the 2:20 second trailer. With the sequel seeming to follow the same destructive formula as its predecessor, we wondered just how things would continue on without Captain Steven Hiller to save the world once again.

Now, if you've been keeping up with all things Independence Day in preparation for the film's June 24th release, you already know from a promotional tie-in website that Smith's character perished due to an 'alien tech malfunction.' There's been plenty of speculation as to why he wasn't set to appear in the highly anticipated sequel, ranging from money issues to simply avoiding the idea of an unnecessary follow-up. After speaking with Yahoo! Movies, we now know just how the 47-year old feels about his character's demise.

“I was working on ‘Suicide Squad’ during that time,” Smith told Yahoo! in regards to conflicting schedules between the two films. “Roland and I had talked about it. The trailer looks really cool. I’m going to be sitting around with tears in my eyes when that one comes out… It was terrible when I found out my character died.”

Even in Hiller's absence, his legacy will live on thanks to the appearance of his son, Dylan (Jessie Usher) set to defend Earth in his place. In addition to the returning Independence Day characters, he will be joined by Charlotte Gainsbourg, Maika Monroe, and Liam Hemsworth.

Can`t wait to see this. Loved the first one and the story with the aliens returning sounds fine.

Hopefully they`ll bring back THE BEST EXTRA EVER!

STUPID Will Smith. Making that STUPID Concussion movie when he could have done the movie that would have revitalized his career.

If this does wet a few sci fi nerds pants on the big screen while you are there then you never were a true sci fi movie fan. This Looks many times better then the first one if ask me. My guess is since there are two films that this one ends with a climax and when think we won but this was second Faze as we see another Mother Ship coming that makes the Moon look like a ball as it smashes it as it goes by.

Just wondering... since the Empire State Building was destroying in ID-1 by aliens, but in reality the World Trade Center was destroyed by humans, does that mean the WTC will still be standing in ID-2 ?

They would probably have been pulled down in the ID4 Universe after the damage they took.

Would the alien invasion have caused Bin Laden to be an ally of humanity against the aliens (probably considering them more infidel than the infidels?)... and thus Al Qaida would have become a force for good? Which means there probably would've been no war in Iraq and ISIS would be like some sort of Earth defense watch group?

By the Trailer Looked Like DC and California get hammered again because it does not look like New York is used in the new movie.

I wonder if people (especially those connected to 9/11 the most) avoid this movie because of that image.

everytime i watch the trailer i remember how awesome the first one was, and so happy again that most of the cast is back, it feels an authentic sequel.
