Would you recommend All that Jazz for someone who typically dislikes musicals?

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.

If this looks good, then yes. It's the only musical I know that shows a real open-heart surgery in detail too!

So like... this is definitely a Top 100?

That's a lot of fluff at the bottom end isn't it? I'd have made it a Top 25, 50 at most.

Yeah right.

There will be 200 films that don't make this list better than half of what's been currently posted on comics list.

For any who haven't seen it, there's a nice three-part documentary called A Decade Under the Influence: The '70s Films That Changed Everything (2003) that is a nice love letter to the era, featuring interviews with many of the filmmakers and actors who defined the decade's cinema.

They're right in that it's definitely not your typical musical and cinematically it's OK, but there were still far too many showtune-type songs and stage productions for my liking. However, when that wasn't happening, I thought it was OK.

Finished here. It's been fun.
Is there a possibility for a best of the 60's list sometime in the future?

re: Sorcerer a page back. Now on Blu-ray, great film, just watched it. Gotta love the seventies, studios were just throwing money at quality directors. Of course, we know how that turned out. Sorcerer won't make my list but it would be a worthy addition to our top 100.

Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

I recently saw Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles from 1975 by Chantal Akerman.

I really hope this is going to be a contender for the list! If its not a masterpiece its definitely in the vicinity of being one, Highly recommendable.

Afraid of a 1-2 2001 and Dr. Strangelove Kubrick combo?
No. I'm afraid that I won't come close to finding 25 films that I love. 25 that I like enough to put on the list? Probably. But I don't really know how many of them would have a hope of making the list.

That said, I've got a lot to watch/rewatch for the 60's, so I may surprise myself.

It'll be on my list for sure!
