The Videogames Tab
The modern video game industry is great for certain things and bad for others.
It's bad for the dynamic a lot of us grew up with where you get a console and then buy or rent a lot of cheap games to try them out. The cost is prohibitive for that now. But it's fine (great, even!) for people who like to player fewer games but get really deep into them, because if you do that you end up getting hundreds of dollars worth of enjoyment and entertainment from the games you really love. I could've paid $300 for Super Mario Odyssey or Tears of the Kingdom and it would've been worth it.
If you want a broad spectrum of game experiences, yeah, get on Steam and focus on inventive indie games. They're limitless and you can get several for the cost of a AAA game. That's the place to get the experience you used to have from Blockbuster or whatever.
