Movie a Day by the Bay

Brokeback Moutain (Ang Lee, 2005) - +

Thought this was a very moving and well-made film. I felt terrible for Michelle Williams' character. It was hard to be sympathetic towards the two leads at times, but I get that this is an emotionally complex film when it comes to relationships, and that is a good thing.
Pierrot le Fou (Jean-Luc Godard, 1965) - +

Good movie, but I'm finding I'm not crazy about Godard for some reason. i've only seen Breathless and now this and gave both the same rating - pretty good but not great. I'm going to keep trying, though. There are some Godard's I still want to see, like Vivre sa Vie. Anyway, I still liked the movie. I liked it's weirdness and the two main leads had loads of charm.

I liked Perrot Le Fou a little more than that, but I'll see how I feel when I watch it again. Contempt is my favorite Godard so far.
Haven't seen Brokeback yet.

The first half of this is probably the best I've ever seen from Hitchcock! I watched the first half when I woke up and I finished it when I got home late at night, so it probably ruined the experience and maybe I'd love the second half as much as the first one if I had seen it in a row.
Nevertheless, Henry Fonda never stops to impress me! He's gradually becoming one of my favourite actors of all time!
The directing is amazing overall, with some fantastic moments and the suspense is good, but it's the atmosphere and how much I related to the character that really amazed me! This deserves another shot with a clear mind and a empty schedule because it's truly one of Hitchcock's best works (and I usually find it hard to love anything he does).

With Swan watching so many monster movies I started trying to remember if I had ever seen one. And I remembered this one. I watched it so many time when I was a kid because it was always on TV and I used to love it!
I was curious to see my opinion about it so many years later and the truth is I'm impressed because I still like it a lot!
The introduction is gold, the monsters are absolutely terrifying, there are some very good scenes (the "Can you fly, you Sucker??? Can you fly??" scene is so ****ing epic), I was completely thrilled for a great deal of time and I started laughing as a 9-year-old when it was over! Oh, childhood...

Oh I freaking love Tremors! I actually just watched it myself a few days ago. Still great.

Tremors will always be one of my favorites.
As for The Wrong Man, Neiba, the first half is significantly better than the second half regardless of whether you watch it in one sitting or not.

From it's specific HoF thread:
Incredible film. I loved the cinematography and the score, especially. This is a film where everything feels precise but not in a contrived way – it still feels natural. Every shot is beautifully composed and doesn’t cut too early or linger too long. Maybe I’m crazy but during a few of the quieter moments I was reminded of Tarkovsky. Going to have to buy it now so I can revisit it from time to time. Curious to see more of Egoyan’s work. Like the film, I was completely unfamiliar with him before the 6th Hall of Fame. Really glad to have been introduced.

From it's specific HoF thread:
Anyway, I just finished the film. It's similar to This Boy's Life for me in that it's very solid, but didn't overly blow me away. I thought Costner was good as ever. I did think Clint and the lady were a bit underdeveloped, but I get what Vicky is saying - This is Costner and the boy's story. In fact, I'm glad they focused more on those two because it made for a better and more engaging film (this should be obvious but it seems it isn't
). I have no real complaints. Good, solid nomination Vicky. I can certainly see why others fall for it. I'll probably pick it up for my dad some time and watch it with him. Think he'll like it.

Honeykid recommended this after I rewatched Pulp Fiction some weeks ago so I thought it would be a nice movie to watch on Valentine's Day!

It's an amazing neo-noir with a terrific atmosphere, great sountrack - that gives it a very speedy pace - and a sexy as hell femme fatale! There are some plot decisions I don't quite agree with and it seemed a bit disconected here and there but the ending is sooooo awesome!
Thanks for the great recommendation HK!

I always loved Monthy Python! They inspired a whole generation of portuguese comedians that tried their best to bring their type of humour to Portugal. Surprisingly (or not) it was a huge success, and a lot of comic groups are adored by people who don't even know from where did that come from!
I watched Python's Holy Grail and the first season of the Circus and, even liking it a lot, neither of them are as good as Life of Brian!
It's simply hilarious from the very beggining to the incredible end! The amount of criticism and intelligent humour is so damn high! One of the best comedies of all time, for sure!

Pontypool (Bruce McDonald, 2008) -
[REWATCH]

After watching it last time, I immediately had to buy it and show it off to my dad. I think he liked it. For me, it was just as good as the first time. Nothing new to add, if you want to know my original thoughts go read my review, bitch.

I consider this an utter masterpiece. For a supposedly non-horror thriller, this movie is incredibly creepy. The thing I love about it is how realistic it is. They could have easily made it silly and unrealistic, ala CSI or something, but they kept even small realistic touches.

Your score for The Sweet Hereafter has me excited for it. I am a big fan of another Egoyan movie though, and I think you should give it a shot when you get a chance: Exotica.
