Best Film of Each Year Game

Tools

Miller's Crossing

Here are my runners up for 1990:

Vincent & Theo; Trust; Ju Dou; Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead; The Reflecting Skin.

2000

I haven't seen a lot of 1966 films. I'm sure none of them qualify anywhere close to "best" but I enjoyed Follow Me, Boys and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, but my favorite is Batman.

RIP www.moviejustice.com 2002-2010
I think the 1918 selection for this game killed it over a decade ago, but I'll go ahead and dig this thing up.

While I have seen and know more about silent films than 99.9-percent of the population, it's still an era where compared to how much quantity is out there, I've hardly even touched the surface. I actually watched A Dog's Life, a short Chaplin film from that year, a couple months ago... I think it was on Criterion... also on youtube which I'll link, and absolutely loved it and can definitely see the common themes with his Little Tramp character and a lot of material that seemed to precede City Lights.

I also love dogs and some of the stuff that dog does is absolutely insane. So since I haven't seen much specifically from 1918, I'm going with A Dog's Life...

OK, next year... let's go with the best... 1939.
