Razzies #37, Worst of 2016

Haven't seen a topic on this, and I'm sure most don't care about this awards group, but I enjoy hearing about which films are just the worst of the bunch. Nominations are coming in later today (today for me, at least), so I figured I'd leave the pre-nom list here with an asterisk by those I'm predicting will be nominated (based mostly on word-of-mouth alone, (un)fortunately, due to not having seen the majority of these). Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I have only seen one of the films nominated here and that would be Ride Along 2.

OK, this actually made me laugh out loud.

The only nominated movie I've seen is Ghostbusters and I'm sad it didn't make the Worst Prequel, Remake, Ripoff or Sequel category.

I've only seen one of those: Mother's Day,

Chick Flick! Alert!...I ain't just saying that because it's mainly about women, some of the best movies are mainly about women. This is a very light, girl picture, lots of girl talk and stuff girls would like, especially young moms. This should probably be required viewing for all women under 30 who have or will have babies.

I watched Dirty Grandpa with my wife and we both liked it plenty.

Okay, I'm awake and I just checked. Six nominees per category. That's a first! I've seen 3, 5, and 10, but not 6, so...yeah. How close was I...(asterisks by the ones I did guess right):

Overall, some of these were obvious while some were a bit shocking. I'll come back later (may take a couple days) with predictions for "winners".

D’Souza better win (or is it lose?)

I'd like to think so, it would certainly be more interesting than any of the aggressively generic blockbusters/comedies that make up the rest of the nominees.

In any case, looks like I dodged a lot of bullets here. The only ones I've seen are BvS, Suicide Squad, and Gods of Egypt. I actually sort of liked Gods of Egypt as a glittery load of camp and could almost respect BvS for committing so thoroughly to a flawed vision, but Suicide Squad was a straight-up mess. I contend that Sausage Party was "robbed", though.

Why does BvS have so many nominations, as stated before I'm indifferent to the film and I think it does deserve some nominations, but Worst Picture when Nine Lives, Max Steel, Disappointments Room, and Norm of the North aren't nominated, what the actual f*ck.

You know how the Oscars don't always give awards to the actual best movies of the year? The Razzies are sort of the same in that they don't always reward the actual worst movie of the year.

Pfft, at this rate it's more likely to get a Best Picture nomination.

Yeah, it's more built around hype than anything. Which is why La La Land is gonna win best picture.

Well it is all completely objective, I'm just wondering how all these other films got completely over looked for their horrendousness.

As Swan said, it's all about the "hype", or disappointment in these cases.

The Razzies are the best awards! Last year the WORST MOVIES was well deserved!
