According to this film, Aquaman, actually named Arthur at birth, was a half-breed...his father was a lighthouse keeper and his mother was actually the Queen of the Lost Kingdom of Atlantis.

What makes Aquaman so good is that rather than making an epic movie and accidentally making the film more ridiculous than DC ever got, Aquaman embraced comic-book ridiculousness to deliver some great action without letting that get in the way of the story too often.

It's not without its faults, but Aquaman is the best movie DC has made for their universe.
