I chose this and the 1922 film to do first for Robin Hood Week because I wanted to start out with an example of a great Robin Hood film and an example of a bad or meh Robin Hood film; then I can compare other movies to these two examples if I have to.

Robin Hood is hardly the worst film Scott's ever done, but there's very little here that indicates how this protracted origin story starring a middle-aged Russell Crowe was a better idea than actually going through with the proposed Sheriff of Nottingham film.

I thought "Robin Hood" would be a complete bore, but it definitely wasn't. I don't necessarily have to see this again, however it was a solid movie.

The film is more of a poorly guided history lesson than the justice-seeking, triumphant Hood tale audiences are used to.
